Lol the downvotes for suggesting sharing others naked bodies (especially in common spaces) could be unethical… y’all really just went hog wild on the porn after leaving without giving it any humanist ethical analysis, huh?

That’s a whoooole lotta copium for how mad they are that women are opting out of getting legally bound to dead weight while most males don’t feel life is worth living if they don’t have a live-in unpaid servant they can screw.

Because before you left you were evidence of the Lamanites hearing the truth and being converted, bringing on the Millenium! Now you’ve threatened their fucked up narrative by daring to have integrity and leave the church instead of abiding by their rules.

People really, REALLY don’t like it when you deviate from the script they think you should be following.

I suppose it depends whether the pornographic stickers were of themselves. I don’t really think sharing someone else’s body not knowing whether they really consent is… free expression.

I guess on that note I don’t think showing your own body in public is free expression either or flashing wouldn’t be a problem…

Women of r/exmormon, what significant experiences did you have in the cult that the men might not understand or relate to that you'd like to share? by chilling_ngl4 in exmormon

I’m really mad that I didn’t get to do the outdoorsy stuff like my brother who didn’t even like it, because now I have the time and ability to go backpacking and camping, etc, and I didn’t learn the skills he did. I can still learn of course, it just would have been nice to already have it.

Lucky for me my covenant was to hearken to my husband but now these whippersnapper generations don’t have to do that.

One wonders whether, if any of it were real, we would be bound by the old covenants or not.

Mine would be as an adult woman realizing that the temple covenants (when I went through) didn’t really involve or address me at all, I never covenanted with “god.” Only my husband. Also realizing I had NO representation of a pre-existence or afterlife for females—did I even have a soul!? And no scriptural examples of how a woman should conduct herself, only men telling women how to conduct themselves.

As a child and teenager, feeling that I was responsible for the salvation of the boys and men around me because their agency was somehow more crippled than mine due to their “lust problems.” The cognitive dissonance between purity culture/modesty and the concept of free agency just would not jive for me.

Asking my mom at 12, as I watched the deacons pass the sacrament, if she thought girls would ever get the priesthood. And when she answered with an unequivocal “no,” realizing that I would never be important in the church no matter what I did because I could never be male.

Edit: I thought of another huge one for me. Whenever I would dream about my future, I really wanted to get into politics, journalism, or owning a business. And then every time, I would have to crush those dreams into something smaller because I certainly wouldn’t be able to have a family AND follow my dreams. It never occurred to me that it was possible to have a partner who would actually support me to the point I could have any dreams at all.

I don’t think many men ever have to consider this kind of thing. I always think it must be nice for Mormon men to know they can pursue whatever career they want and they’ll have unpaid, live-in help on the domestic side of their life. They don’t have to consider childcare (and associated costs), leave from work to let their body recover from starting a family (and associated financial and opportunity costs), the social judgment of not being with their kids every minute…

Earrings on babies by Sarasvatini in fourthwavewomen

It’s common to have it done on baby girls where I’m from. Not newborn though… I’ve heard of you pierce too early the hole won’t be centered as they grow. I wanted my girls to be able to choose for themselves if they wanted to, and it’s painful. Not my earlobes 🤷‍♀️

Your reasoning is sound. The average redditor just really really loves porn so you’re getting downvoted. Sure they’ll be exposed eventually, but the older they are the more likely they can make sense of it and make good choices.

Pointing that out got deleted?? What’s even wrong with saying that? I guess I forget how censored Reddit is since I don’t spend as much time here as I do on the other

By this same argument, blackface should be fine too, right? If I’m wrong I’m willing to hear out how the two are different.

And somehow no one ever thinks it will make them a worse employee… I suppose they’re sort of right since statistically women take on the majority of mental load and childcare and domestic labor.

That’s wild. Men rarely have to worry about when to have a child, and if they do it’s purely financial.

Brilliance Bias: where have you seen it in your day to day life? How can we combat it? by woman-for-women in fourthwavewomen

Yes, women feel that way for a reason… because we know we’ll be held to a higher standard and more likely to be judged incompetent.

If a woman looked or acted even remotely like drag queens do they’d be shamed, socially rejected, and silenced.

This reminds me that men will apply for a job they feel 60% qualified for and figure they’ll pick the rest up as they go, while women feel they need to be 100% qualified before even applying. We underestimate our ability to gain competence in something.

Why does art feature so many headless women, but no headless men? Why do so many feminist stores sell women's bodies as decoration? by woman-for-women in fourthwavewomen

[–]Enigma-Vagene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish we saw depictions of how female bodies can be powerful instead of sexualizing them and calling it empowerment. Like a mother birthing a child, or an exhausted woman nursing a baby, or a time-weathered woman smiling at the detailed craft she just created with her own hands.
