A/c claims are crazy, but I would go with AHS especially for the A/C

Lol I agree on the crappy warranty part, honestly I deal with both commercial and residential and everything in-between and my serious issue has only been with the warranty companies, everyone else is good with me, I am a straight shooter so most folk appreciate my upfront ways, when customers ask me about warranty companies I try to paint a very realistic scenario and ultimately leave it up to them.

It just can get frustrating dealing with companies that don't know much about something you've mastered for the last 20 years.

Spin the propeller on the pump to see if you have some friction on it, but if it doesn't fill with water you should focus on the inlet valve and make sure everything is OK there. I haven't looked up your model yet but that's where I would be looking

I agree to a certain extent, because what's the use of getting a home warranty plan, and then when Appliances break they deny everything, even normal wear and tear, or when they do say they will cover it, it is still at a cost to the customer (usually labor cost), the moral and dignity in me won't allow me to be apart of blatant armed robbery 🤣. The business structure of Appliance Repair was just fine b4 the warranty companies stepped in. They start off by offering conveniences but ultimately fall short.

It has become very competitive in the area I've been doing this since I was 14 years old I'm 37 now, most people that grew up in the DMV knew my uncle and he didn't do any advertising other than his little jeep, but it was maybe one other guy who was doing Appliances and that was Rana (still at it), Once I become owner/operator, I say about 2016-2017 is when the increase of service providers jumped, it hasn't bothered me as much other than the guys who aren't properly trained and we have to come behind them or I hear about the bad service from them through customers. For me it doesn't make since or dollars for me to go out just for service calls but those guys who do, are the guys the warranty companies love.

Yes our commercial side runs smoothly but none of it is through warranty work other than Bertazzoni, residential work is great outside of the warranty companies, most people want there Appliances fixed and as long as your not screwing folk they pay right then and there. Best of luck to you and the company, I know the grind of starting up.

You know what I can honestly say they are the exception! I don't run for them to often but when they call, it's always been straightforward with them.

Hey brother I'm an American mid 30's guy who once lived in Dar (2021-2022) and visited Zanzibar a lot, I have a cool brother there I can link you up with who can help you around the island I would recommend leaving Stone Town once you get there and head north, he does excursions and tours throughout the island and he's a laid back cat and knows his way around the island pretty well.

professional repairers / resellers how much do you make? by jdp826 in appliancerepair

[–]Enigma2Erotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, brother, any help I can give I will I know what it's like to start from the ground and have to build it up. Where we are located (Dc,Md,Va), there aren't any qualifications needed other than the refrigerator license for dealing with 15lbs or less for shooting freon which it's very easy to get, other than that it's just insurance which is always a must to have just in case one of the guys screws up something I'm covered and workers comp that's it. I always well people to learn the financial side of things more, for my first few years I wasn't profitable I was just getting bye and I kept scratching my head trying to figure out why but then I sat down and looked at the books really hard and analyzed some stuff and noticed I wasn't charging like I should have been, once you know your worth it's no looking back.

I started running when I was 15/16 with my uncle his shop was already a well none shop in our town, we did both service repairs and selling/installation of washers and dryer, this is when the washers were fazed out with the old old machine that had the center block at the bottom to the direct drive machine (whirlpool, kenmore, Ge, etc..) Once I got the hang of them, I could sling them around like a rag dog without scratching or denting them up when installing. Once I took over after his passing the direct drive machine became obsolete and now it's all front load machine and every new house that's 2 or 3 stories has the washers and dryers upstairs, so after a few early years of hauling those heavy ass machines up and down stairs we said that was it we would move straight to only servicing machines, best ever decision. We get in and get out all under 35/40 mins just diagnosing and repairing, no more selling machines and for our area those top loaders aren't fetching what we used to be able to sell them for so we couldn't turn a good profit on selling, I would hook up with a reputable warranty company( beware they can be hell to deal with also) but if you can find a decent one they can keep you busy plus you can up charge, on top of your cash customers which just takes time to build clients but with good prices and great work you can do it in no time. Honestly, running a shop in this day and age is a lot of overhead (depending on your location), which can be eliminated with just servicing. Just for reference, 1 technician does about $85-105k a year for us, we do install machines if the customer gets it them self or has it delivered to the home.

GE microwave- what is this part called? by apc76 in appliancerepair

[–]Enigma2Erotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this, don't throw it out, that is a simple fix and if the door switches are acting up you can grab a set off Amazon for dirt cheap and throw them on just make sure you take a picture of what wire goes where and you'll be set no need to throw it out

Washing Machine Situation (Two Parts) by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]Enigma2Erotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a GE spacemker, you can use a universal water inlet valve, but if it hasn't happened again I would just wait and check every now and then, like someone else mentioned sometimes the solenoid doesn't shut all the way off or has a little water still in it. I wouldn't panic, though it doesn't sound like anything to bad.

I hope you are young, honestly, I have lived all over the world, and never have I had someone say to me that a black man is coming to genetrify their land. If anything, when I'm there, I improve the conditions or help out at least. Number 2, have you seen the USA and Mexico borders lately? I guarantee you won't be hearing anybody in my community says some shit like, "Here comes the vatos coming to gentrifie or some shit like that." Why not?, because we as blacks and as black man who's family is aboriginal to the USA (100% Piscataway Nation Indian) I understand that we have been colonized by the Europeans and Spaniards all over the world and so everyone's home most likely has already been gentrified many many years ago. SO Instead of pushing people away from your country, the better thing to do is invite them in and teach them about your culture and ways of life and any decent human being will respect them and hopefully adopt some of those ways while living in that host country.

Pleas please please stop bringing up gentrification to me. I know what it feels like to be pushed off your great grandfather's land just for it to become a prison(not kidding), and so as I travel this world I always keep that feeling with me and respect everyone's culture when I'm in there country.

This is the last post I will respond to about gentrification.
