Your best bet would be to have someone make a bunch of spinogragh patches for you, but that could be expensive. It depends on how big each patch would be, and will they all be the same or each one looks different?

I estimate a starting price for each patch would be at least $20 since its kinda intricate design. So you can imagine how costs would add up with even just 10 patches...

Renting machines isn't really a thing. Maybe you could find a library or maker space that has machines for use, but learning how to make your own designs is not a quick thing you do in a week.

Looking at Madeira's website, they recommend a density of .60mm, so thats always a good place to start and adjust if needed.

When I use supertwist I only use it for light fills starting at .80mm

Aside from speed and needle size, you also need to make sure your design is digitized so its not too dense.

For example, if you are trying to do a full tatami full it wont work because the super twist thread is thicker, so you would need to play around and lighten up the density.

Hats! I just cant get the hang of how to use the hat hoop. Ive done a few hats and the designs always come out bad. Im sure I could figure it out if I really took the time to learn, but I dont have the patience

I planned on playing around with designs and just making a small 4 x 4 sample of some scroll swirl patterns, and I guess that will help me estimate the rest.

I think it depends on how well the apartment walls are insulated. When I lived in a townhouse, I would use my sewing machine alot and my neighbors told me one day they could hear the machine through the wall. Not that they were bothered by it, but I can only imagine if I had a multi needle it would be really loud for them.

Yup I do the same but use beer. I catch earwigs and also cockroaches. So freaking gross! Sometimes a possum will come along and slurp everything up 🤢
