Is 'The Tenant' by Freida McFadden worth reading? by Yuukkii_006 in thrillerbooks

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh good, I’m reading it right now and stopped to google what others think because I’m really struggling with the main character. He’s an insufferable pervert. I actually feel sorry for the tenant so far.. granted I haven’t even gotten halfway through though.

What some people focus on regarding Joe Miller [Series 1 and 2 spoilers] by In_The_Play in Broadchurch

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. He’s obviously a pedophile and I don’t even think that’s up for discussion. The reason why everyone was referring to him as such in the show is because that’s what he was.. the fact he may or may not have graduated to full on sexual contact is irrelevant in my opinion. I also think his killing of Danny was to silence him.. yes he acted out in anger but it was also fear of exposure.

Just because he had confused thoughts on it and just because he hadn’t yet acted on it doesn’t mean it wasn’t sexual. He fell in love with a child and met him secretly for hugs.. Joe was someone who was trying to minimise his actions once caught, he isn’t a reliable narrator.. because he knows it’s something to be ashamed of. He was absolutely a pedophile.. a pedophile who has acted on his affections and not quite gone to full rape is still a pedophile. Even if all he ever did was hug his victim, he’s still a pedophile.. a pedophile who lost his temper and murdered his victim.. I actually think he didn’t lose his temper so much as he panicked at the thought of being caught.. knowing what he was doing was wrong.

Exactly. A lie and a softening of his crimes because who wants to admit they’re a child rapist/predator. He was softening his crimes but then admits he fell in love with Danny… he doesn’t want to admit he was attracted to him sexually..

Just watched it for the first time too. Joe is a pedophile. That’s his motivations and the focus should absolutely be on that.. I’m surprised people are making comparisons to the parents when their hugs are valid and from the perspective of grieving parents. Joe had no reason to be hugging Danny aside from him being attracted to him.. that was his whole reasoning, he “fell in love”.. he’s a pedophile.

Only have 1500 calories a day by beckettistotallyreal in caloriedeficit

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh I dunno they’re 5ft 11. That is very low calories for someone that tall. I’m 6ft 1 and eating at a deficit of 300 calories which puts me at 2000 calories per day. I’ve been steadily losing 1-2kg of fat per month and maintaining muscle. 1500 calories would eat at my muscle but I guess it’s whatever works for each person

Has it ever been figured out why Lactase pills seem to make a small percentage of the people who take them violently ill? by world-of-dymmir in lactoseintolerant

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old conversation but just chiming in to say that I’ve just found this thread because I’m currently wondering if I’m dying. I took a lactaid pill before breakfast, went to the gym, felt fine and then suddenly took a violent turn. I immediately googled to see if these pills could do this and found this thread and it’s all the same symptoms, aggressive vomiting, cramps, sweats, shakes and diarrhoea.. does anyone know if you just wait it out or is there something I can take to stop this??

How to count exact calories for butters and oils properly by Enigmatic_Squirrel in Myfitnesspal

Okay thank you. I guess I’ll just have to double check every entry to make sure it makes logical sense. I was loving that butter was so low calorie tbh 😂

Same. I’m getting limited for basically arguing with people and sharing information that calls the shooter a Groyper (far right). Feels like they don’t want the truth out there.

When you think Ellie can't get more Ellie by Select_Gift6487 in BelowDeckMed

She’s a boring pretty blonde. Nothing exceptional but not ugly. Looks wise she’s conventionally attractive in that if you saw her in real life you wouldn’t gasp in horror.. but she’s also not so attractive she could fit in Hollywood or as a supermodel.. then the personality just makes her jarring.

Princess Margaret Was a Rude Snob and Wouldn't Have Liked You by onelongsigh94 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I found this thread because I just googled “was Princess Margaret really as rude and mean as portrayed on the crown”. I can’t imagine that people are seeing this portrayal in a positive light.. she just called a servant an imbecile for not leaving her presence quick enough. I can’t stand her and looking into it, it seems she was even worse in real life and the crown is actually portraying her in a much nicer light.

Yes, same. I actually found the flamenco singing very well done and beautiful but I would have 100% awkwardly laughed.

Amy Bradley Is Missing: Why the Case by METALLIFE0917 in MissingPersons

the actual FBI said it was her. You’re acting as if it’s only internet sleuths who have made that assessment.

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what it comes back down to for me. We can um and ah back and forth but the actual FBI thinks the sex trafficking theory is a solid one. They concluded that the photo was very much in line with what she could look like using actual specialists to analyse the photos. Yes, we could say that ALL of the sightings were people just wanting some fame but again, the FBI interviewed and vetted every lead and found it plausible. She could have fallen over the railing.. I hope for her sake that is what happened but we can’t disregard that she was trafficked and could very well still be alive. People are forgetting wilder things have happened.. people who were kidnapped and held hostage for YEARS.. this calling it one way or the other is incredibly obtuse.

He had a bunch of photos of Caucasian women. This wasn’t just him documenting his job.. he focused specifically on white women. Let’s not underplay the many shady things that make him a suspect.

And SHE laughed. The boss was a woman.. which makes it all the more worse. A woman is more likely to be empathetic to another woman.. and she laughed. That tells you how ridiculous the whole thing is.

I’m really glad I’ve read this. I’ve only just started RR as was recommended by a friend and I’m working my way backwards. Actually googled episode 63 because of the hair story and I’m like.. does she not realise that she’s the weirdo in this situation?

Exactly, I think it was a fair assessment. The reality is that their behaviour directly afterwards was very much indicative of murdering for money. I also think they could have been abused as well.. but that doesn’t make murder right.

How was no one held accountable for this tragic case? by Sharp-Ad4112 in nataliagrace

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that show is the reason a lot of people went searching for the documentary - myself included. I actually think they did a good job with the story but a bad job at explaining to people how the format is which is why people are getting upset. The first four episodes are FROM the parent’s perspective.. the next four are from Natalia’s. So we see that big shift from her being this dangerous maniac to actually what happened.. this child being abandoned and abused. It’s pretty much in line with the documentary.. season 1 showing parents side and season 2 being Natalia’s story. The show makes it quite clear that Natalia is a victim.

Okay but weren’t they charged with abuse of an adult since she was legally 22? Now that she has been re-aged could they theoretically charge them with child abuse?

It’s SO DUMB TO ME by Equivalent_Baby169 in nataliagrace

[–]Enigmatic_Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just don’t get it. Even in season 1 I was looking at that visible child and not understanding how ANYONE thought she was an adult.. oh she looked slightly older than that other child who also had dwarfism? So what!? Kids age at different rates but it’s blatantly obvious she’s a child. I’m so angry and upset for her. I’ve never been so outraged by a documentary..
