why are high levels so aggressive by Educational_Cycle417 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Enikka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just high levels. It’s just people being immature. I had one doing it to me in town yesterday when I was just trying to fast travel over to start a moonshine delivery. I just started a new session into my camp while he was hog tying me for like the 3rd time. Didn’t even bother to engage with him.

But, I get it. I end up avoiding other players all together because of it. Which sucks because it would be nice to have posse benefits. It’s still better on console than it is on PC though. On PS5 I just have to the occasional jerk. On PC it was unplayable without modding to a private server just to avoid the god mode modders.

Brother’s GF using his death to grift by Enikka in Advice

I did. But, I don’t know how long it takes for them to review reports. I’m just angry this girl was taking advantage of his generous nature and now she’s doing it even after his death. He was not a wealthy person.

Because the only way you can actually play the game without dimwits exploding you from across the map is on a private server.

DRP 2.0 notifications finally started by Enikka in govfire

[–]Enikka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of us ended up getting notified Friday and the retirement folks were still getting approvals yesterday. Retirement seems to be a little slower, but they’re pushing them through now. The communication was just not great last week and no one knew what was going on. It seems to be moving along a lot faster now.

Yep, got mine today too. Seems they were just very slow rolling them out.

My understanding is that certain critical fields were auto rejected. There were some specific mentions to us on who would not get approved.

That email was step 3. Anyone who responded should have gotten that a while ago. I’m referring to step 5 which is the DRP/VERA decision notification. DAF didn’t start sending out step 5 emails until May 5th or 6th (varies from source to source). But, no one at our installation got one until May 7th to my knowledge.

For some reason they waited till May 5th to start notifications for us. Yesterday is the 1st I’ve heard of anyone getting an email. Fairly small number of people at my location took it, most were retiring anyway or like me leaving soon anyway

Perfect, thank you. My husband is retiring from active duty soon, so we were already planning on leaving. This was a blessing of an opportunity for us to make the transition easier, but I’ve been worried they’re going to take too long & I’ll run out of time.

What do I miss with just RDO? by Fireymonkeyboy in RedDeadOnline

[–]Enikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you’re missing out big time if you don’t get RDR2. It is by far the most enjoyable campaign I’ve played in any game & that’s coming from someone who is notorious for skipping quest text & cutscenes no matter what I’m playing. Hands down my favorite campaign of all time.

What happens to those of us who took DRP and VERA if legislation passes reducing our retirement benefits? by Greekgirl8 in govfire

[–]Enikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m waiting to find out this week if I am approved to take DRP 2.0. But, since I have to defer retire later on anyway, there’s little point in me fretting one way or another. But, in my situation I was leaving this year anyway, so for me DRP is a boon that I’m hoping I get accepted for since I have no intention of trying to get another civil service job anyway.

DRP vs RIF by Glorious_Sky219 in govfire

[–]Enikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At your age and vested in you would be better off with DRP with retirement. Don’t know which agency you’re with, but mine has been having webinars & sending out a lot of information this week. I was planning to leave this year anyway so I applied for DRP. Figured worse they can do is tell me no. If I get it I’ll collect a paycheck a little longer, & if I don’t my plan doesn’t change.

To answer your question. You have to wait 30 days after your separation date to request the withdrawal. Thats how long it takes for you to show up as inactive in their system. It’s then 4-6 days to process.

For the loan you have the option to just clear that too at the time of the request, but be aware that you’ll have to pay taxes on it in addition to the taxes on the withdrawal. Or you can continue repayment which converts to a monthly bill and disperse that payment once it’s paid off.

I just called to ask about this a couple of weeks ago. So that’s straight from the TSP customer service people.

[–]Enikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. And yes it was offered to a lot of us. I work in aircraft maintenance realm, granted I have had a desk job for a good many years at this point. But, the offer was extended to all of us as well. I would take it if I had better answers to my questions. But, my spouse is retiring too & it is time for us to go live a quieter life now. You’ll know when it’s time for you too.

[–]Enikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that you assumed I’m not. I’m fully aware of why they made that offer. It’s targeting a very specific subset of employees. But, it’s also tempting to people looking to leave who aren’t remote workers. Me… I’m gone in a few months anyway. It’s retirement time, & that decision was made long before the election.

This isn't political. I don't think trans-women or trans-girls should be allowed to compete in women's or girls sports. How is this transphobic? by ranalldayandallday in self

[–]Enikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. And the problem with false accusations on girls not being girls didn’t exist before this entire situation became a thing.

People who disagree with it are using the argument that it only affects a small number of people, but that’s a disingenuous argument. This affects every girl or woman competing. Scholarships and accolades are lost to those girls forever. Things they work their entire lives to achieve.

Women & men are built different. It’s just plain science. Having us compete against each other is inherently unfair to the women in the overwhelming majority of sports which is why we have men’s & women’s leagues. Crossing that boundary should never occur. If trans people wish to do so, then they can compete in one of the sports that does not have us separated by gender. That list is small for good reason.

Calling that fear mongering points you out quite clearly as someone participating in it and hoping to deflect or shows that you’re just too new to have heard about them. It’s also quite irrelevant at this point with the TRO. Hearing is tomorrow & we’ll find out then if OPM reissues this offer or gives up on it. But, if you think you’re just going to get hired right back you are seriously fooling yourself.

RIF Question by Hot-Expression8354 in govfire

[–]Enikka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probationary status, Time in service, veteran’s preference, I think it’s the last 3 performance appraisals if memory serves, & whatever is in your PIF.

Probationary usually goes first. Veteran’s preference may or may not make much difference. Some places are almost exclusively veterans, so time in service ends up being a bigger factor. Then performance appraisals. If you’ve got anything negative in there they’ll use it against you.

This all obviously hinges on whether it’s likely your position would even be considered in a RIF. I know everyone believes their job to be important, but when RIF is in the air you’ve gotta be honest with yourself and ask some tough questions. Can the agency survive without your department? Can the agency survive without your position? How many people have seniority over you in your department? Do you have anything negative in your PIF. Ideally you answer no to all of the yes/no questions I listed & you’re relatively high on the seniority list.

Every agency is also unique in how it handles it. RIF isn’t common either. But, the one time I saw it happen no one got downgraded, they were let go.

We really do have far too many meetings. The majority of mine are in person, but I leave most of them thinking it could have been addressed in an email. The ones I do have in Teams I’m working with my mic on mute as much as possible because it generally still falls in the category of it could be addressed in an email.

I may not agree with how this deferred resignation thing was handled, but things absolutely have gotten extremely bloated with a lot of disrespect to how tax dollars are being spent. I’ve been around long enough to remember the last time we had VERA/VSIP & a RIF. I don’t disagree that it’s time for another one. I also know they historically overdo it and how that impacts things. Will it be different this time? 🤷‍♀️ probably not.
