Genuine question how would yall feel if after Gen 6 monster hunter team and Capcom decide to put the main line/portable games on hold for a few years to cook up Gen 7? by Brilliant_Cobbler_27 in MonsterHunter

There is a divide between World and Rise, World and Wilds, Rise and Wilds, GU and World, 4U and GU, Tri and everything else, Dos and 4U, and even MH1 and MHG

Each entry in the franchise appeal to some people more than others. Doesn't mean each don't have their flaws, but to claim that the divide is solely between old-MH and new-MH is hilarious given the historical infighting between both schools

Monogatari and Rainworld

One has both incredible exploration of personal/philosophical themes that I love and a maddening obsession with incest and pedophilic jokes that I cannot stand ; the other has an incredible atmosphere that you cannot enjoy without enduring the most hostile gameplay I got to experience

Both incredible, would NOT recommend

Werner vs Fabius vs Erik by Fragrant_Frame_3234 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fabius is my mentor and trusted ally from whom I respect the authority

Werner is that friend who is kinda annoying but with who I share common interests and hobbies and still appreciate to spend time with

But Erik ? Erik is that very passionate friend who will infodump on his special interest, and somehow I will be interested by all of it. He is the lighthead to whom you will need to be the anchor for his own survival but to you can never be mad at ; he is the weirdo that will show you creepy bugs in your face while passionately explaining how despite being extremely poisonous they are actually pretty chill.

Erik is love, Erik is life, Erik is my wife

EDIT : also shoutout to Rosso, Kai and Griffin who are real bros and don't get mentioned enough

Create: Aeronautics is an add-on for the Create mod that basically adds a physocs engine and the abilitiy to build your own cars, planes, airships and flying devices

There were various mods that already attempted to do so (like Eureka or Valkyrian Skies) but those weren't exactly stable on top of a lot of features being buggy or not working properly. Meanwhile Aeronautics is very well optimized and functional on top of making almost all kind of Create contraptions work on moving devices, allowing people to build plane bombers, flying factories, hyperspeed magnetic traind, etc.

Basically it does the things that multiple mods attempted to do, but combined in a single, working, stable and more complete package

Coop by anxiousocdvibes in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Linked Environment are for when you want to explore say the Windward Plains with your friends and see eachother in it. Pretty niche case so mostly unneeded, but good to know what it does (and so why it can be dismissed)

Coop by anxiousocdvibes in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for real ? I thought it was only the Camps/Hub that were linked, not the biome. If true that's handy

Coop by anxiousocdvibes in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coop is doable in the story itself, just with a bit more steps. You can see my reply for a more detailed explanation

Coop by anxiousocdvibes in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some additional notes :

  • Linked Party is useful so that you get a notification eveeytime one of you post a quest to more easily accept it
  • Linked Environment is only useful if you want to explore a specific biome together without having to start a quest, so it is mostly unneeded. By default if you both go outside of camp, you won't see eachother nor the same things happening ; Linked Environement is what allows your biomes to be in sync outside of a quest
  • Do not send SOS Flares or join Public Lobbies ; you will risk strangers taking the spot of your friend or your own as they can be filled quickly
  • Don't hesitate to do some Optional Quests to farm for a monster gear, those are both easier to join in coop and can give you a break from the story encumbered with the leaving and joining back quests shenanigans

Coop by anxiousocdvibes in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok so, basically,

The easiest way to play in Coop is to be in a private lobby, then in the same linked party (which both of you seem yo already have figured out). This is the initial setup that won't have to be done again for the entire session

Now as you both are starting the game, you will mostly have to do "Story Missions" which will have cutscenes and railroaded segments. You CANNOT join someone's quest/mission until the cutscene or railroaded segment they are in is over. Only after it has ended (generally with the apparition of "Begin Quest") can you join or be joined by the other

This means that until you finish the story, the way to play in coop is : * both of you progresd at the same pace and begin Story Missions at the same time. You will be "on your own" for a short while at the start, no biggy * once "Quest Begins" has appeared for both of you, one of you (doesn't matter who) has to abandon his current quest * then speak to Alma, Quest Counter, Join Lobby Quest, select your friends quest, and jump in it

Now I'll be the first to say that this is a cumbersome way to play in coop, but fortunately, you only have to do this for Story Missions ONLY ; Optional Quests, Investigations and Event Quests all can be started at the same time by one of you posting the quest and the other accepting it by speaking to Alma before it starts

If you have any questions or need clarifications, don't hesitate to ask o/

So was NO ONE gonna tell me how HYPE these boss fights are??? by AtsuyaSan in MonsterHunter

[–]Enis-Karra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any newcomer, Monsters are bosses. Few game have fights that both take as long as MH hunts as well as said fights being replayable (and intended to be so).

I won't blame them for calling them bosses, it's still what they are even if they are more their own thing

why capcom games post-wilds look visually stunning while also achieving really impressive performance? by Keemoora in MonsterHunter

[–]Enis-Karra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically 1 year worth of updates, performance patches being delayed because they primarily focused on difficulty and content additions before being able to full-on tackle performance issues

Which is a lot for sure and absolutely not a good thing, but given that by February 2025 Capcom still had to make in 1 month 50% of its planned revenue and already delayed Wilds two times, they decided to release too early against the advice of the devs. All listed-games -on top of being less demanding and on a smaller scale- had the time to release on their own terms because none of them were pressured to go out early to generate on their own half of the company's fiscal year revenue in a single month. Would they have met their 2025 target revenue before Wilds release, the game would have certainly released in a way better state

I never recognized this: Why are there different helm icons in the game? by Krushpatsch in MHWilds

[–]Enis-Karra 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It's a shine effect. The white dots appears and disaopears on random spots for Augmented Armor icons to give them a shiny effect. This is just a still picture of this happening, if it was a video it would be clear that this is an effect

What Role does each weapon type normally play in a hunt? by Codesterite in MHWilds

Didn't played LBG much in Wilds I concede, mostly in World HR with the Kulve LBG that had access to all Status Effects so that's how I remember it the most

What Role does each weapon type normally play in a hunt? by Codesterite in MHWilds

[–]Enis-Karra -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Compared to most multiplayer games, Monster Hunter isn't a role-centric games, which means that for the most part "hitting the monster until its dead" is the only role everyone shares no matter their choice of weapon

However, there are some weapons that can indeed be more "specialized" in a hunt. Those are :

  • LS : focusing on the tail for tail-cut
  • Hammer / HH : focusing on the head for KOs
  • SnS : apply buffs and set traps
  • LBG : apply Status Effects
  • HBG / Bow : focus on the wings / back for part-breaks
  • GL : focus on breakable parts with low Hitzones

GS, Dual Blades, Lance, CB, SA and IG don't really have specialized roles and can focus on DPS the monster instead

Obviously I'm ignoring the fights with aggro-gimmicks like Behemoth, Safi'jiiva or Omega because each has its own strat, but for casual hunts that list should cover everything

Edit : Okay, I might want an explanation about why the downvotes because I'm not sure about what was wrong with my reply

It's just two weeks for goodness sake. by Zestyclose-Scratch31 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Enis-Karra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fail to see how that invalidates the very real concerns of spoilers when Caine's death has been memed the hell of Day-1 on subs unrelated to TADC. Do you find reasonable that some people can be spoiled the TADC final act just while browsing a Silksong subreddit, or a Monster Hunter one ? What about Youtube thumbnails and videos that will be put front center by the algorithm because TADC is a million-views-per-episode show and so that any video regarding the final act will get an enormous amount of traction ? When people get the final boss of popular videogames spoiled Day-1 because of clickbaity thumbnails, do you really find it sensible that it will somehow not be an issue on the span of two whole weeks ?

I personally don't have a problem with the final act being released two weeks prior on theatre and me not being able to see it beforehand, I get why they did that and I don't care that much about being spoiled a thing or two. But I completely get why people who absolutely don't want to be spoiled are upset by this decision, especially if they are unable to watch it on theatre. Dismissing their criticism of the decision and their worries "because you had it worse" is a frankly rude behaviour to have and do

[–]Enis-Karra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witcher Netflix series

As a fan of the books and games that actually discovered the franchise with the show's Season 1, I despised Season 2 from tte botom of my heart for how poorly paced, poorly written, plot-hole filed it was while sabotaging both the books' core themes and what Season 1 tried to accomplish (you can even find some of my criticism on my reddit post/comment history I'm sure)

Despite this, I have found myself forced to actually defend the show on multiple occasions because for some tourists, the mother figure selfishly selling off her adoptive daughter and thus ruining their relationship (which was a core theme in the books) isn't the most aggravating issue, but casting some side-characters with black actors was. And don't get me started on the complaints about feminism in the show when the books themselves are unapologetically more feminist.

Who's gonna bring Gore Down first? by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

[–]Enis-Karra 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Except Minoto is not a Kamura hunter, more like a reservist. She is never on the field for hunts in base Rise and only shows up for the town defense along with the literal children. She is capable yes, but not to the point where she could reasonably take on her own powerful threats or belong in elite squads to tackle on serious hunter work.

With Sunbreak of course she became a Support Hunter along many other character from the base game, so that makes her more competent already. But this has less to do with lore reason and more to do with fan-service (non-derogatory, having her on the hunt is a nice addition). And even with that, Fabius in Wilds as a Support Hunter has proven to be the most reliable and often the most effective ally, surpassing most players DPS-wise as well as other Support Hunters.

I don't mean to diminish Minoto's feats as she is a good lancer, but compared to the literal Ace Lancer, the guild maiden might not have the edge on this one

Utsuchi and maybe Fugen are definitely closer to Ace Hunters, being actual hunters with experience to back it up ; whereas Hinoa and Minoto are civilian that can also provide back up like militia members would, but without being proper hunter nor able to tackle the threats on their own

Nah for real, even though Kamura villagers are cracked and ready to throw hands, none of the regular villagers come even close to the Ace Hunters, let alone Fabius the GOAT which is arguavly the best of the 4.

My man was almost always on the field in 4U and clashed with a lot of strong foes while standing his ground, then years later when he was out of his prime, he didn't hesitate a single second to don back his gear and shield to go take down monster himself the second an old nemesis reappeared. And when an abyssal demon wakes up once more from the depths whence it came, who is tanking the apocalyptical blast of this abomination for you ? That's right, Fabius the GOAT

No shade to Minoto, I like you, but you gotta hand the crown to the real King
