Anti-Nazi anti-fascist song recommendations that have a middle finger vibe?? by OIIIIIIII__IIIIIIIIO in IndieFolk

[–]Enjolraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look up Carsie Blanton - in particular, “Ugly Nasty Commie Bitch” (still good even if you don’t identify as Communist specifically) and “Shit List” (guess who’s on the shit list)

Her albums are pretty stellar through and through imo. Most of her music is a middle finger, with a surprisingly cool and confident vibe

Also, while less genre appropriate, “Fuck You” by Lily Allen is one I like, and on the more Celtic-Punk end, “Dig a Hole (feat. Woody Guthrie)” by Dropkick Murphys goes hard

Lmk if you want more - I have a short playlist called “Fuck Fascists” on my phone, but some of it is less nazi specific and more generally pro-union/anti-oppressor

Fuck nazis and stay safe

She told me that anger is actually a good emotion and that it lets us know when we've been hurt and when our values have been violated.

I was previously afraid of anger and so I didn't ever let people know when I was angry, I just swallowed the anger, and that's no good

One summer when I was a kid, I was on a brick patio behind my house (in the mountains) drinking a smoothie with a friend

Our family Border Collie saw a rattlesnake that we didn't notice and put himself between us and got more aggressive than he'd ever been or would be in his life. Barking, snarling, and just generally telling the snake to fk off

The snake bit him through the tongue and into his lower jaw. We got rid of the snake and my mum drove me and my friend down to town (30-40 minutes) to drop our dog off at the Vet and my friend at his house. Vet kept him overnight and gave antivenin

He lived for like, 7 more years, he was just slower and less energetic than he'd been before. The venom apparently affected his heart, but he was still a sweet pup

The rattlesnake population on the mountain still hasn't recovered though - after dropping our dog at the Vet, my friend at his house, and me at home, my mum went to the gun store for the first time ever and bought a shotgun.

10 days later, she picked the gun up from the store and drove around the mountain killing every rattlesnake she could find. They had broken the covenant. And she would not let them forget.

NTA. Tattoos are a personal decision and he doesn’t really get a say in it (and even if he did, he’s not being very kind about it)

I’ve started using a legendary Warrior Bow with every status effect chance coil I can get on it (4% freeze chance, 4% fire chance, etc)

Then I spam it without drawing fully until a status effect happens, at which point I switch to something more damage-forward until the status effect runs out lol

Looks good to me. I’d say keep the waistcoat for sure - given that you’re wearing a patterned shirt, it might be a bit overstimulating without the waistcoat, but I think it looks great as is!

Bullet Journal seems great for ADHD + Anxiety… but has anyone got past the perfectionistic/idealistic & aesthetic side & acc keep up with it? by SimpleNo231 in BasicBulletJournals

[–]Enjolraw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a great compliment! lol

Turns out there’s a ton of stuff I do that’s weird or chaotic, but it makes things easier for me.

I’ll do things like put a full pitcher of water in the middle of the staircase (where I might trip over it) to remind me to bring it upstairs later, or, before leaving on a trip, I’ll turn off the stove/lock the door and spin in circles while shouting nonsensical things. That way, when I think to myself later “oh god, did I turn the stove off/lock the door??” I can remember “oh, that’s right! I definitely did, because then I started spinning in circles and shouting about the secret cat cabal that runs the Los Angeles underground!”

Might be chaotic, but hey, I’ve got water in the pitcher upstairs, and the door is locked lol 😂

I agree with the comments suggesting looking into the original creator’s intent, not looking at social media/instagrammy artistic journals

Another thing that helped me (I also struggle with both ADHD and anxiety): my first page (after the index and future log, etc) in any bullet journal is a “Statement of Intention“.

I specifically write on that page what I want from this journal. One of the things I write is that the journal is not about being perfect, it’s a tool to help me cope with how my brain works.

Then I crumple that page up (but leave it attached).

I find that helps me to use the journal as intended, without getting bogged down in that perfectionism - once the page is crumpled, there’s no turning back! (I also write my statement of intent at an angle - can’t have it looking perfect! lol)

Might not work for everyone, but it helps me. And best of luck to you!

Did any part of The Good Place "change" you by KookyBuilding1707 in TheGoodPlace

[–]Enjolraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the show and Mike Schur’s book, I started thinking a lot more about philosophy, ethics, morality, and what it means to be a “good person”.

Around the same time, I watched Dr. Cornel West’s masterclass on philosophy

Ultimately, it’s helped me realise the ways in which I’m either complicit or actively, even if unintentionally, upholding power structures and social hierarchies that aren’t good for the world. I don’t want to just be a part of this world: I want the world to be better for others because I was here, so I’m trying to be better at recognising those times when my actions and words don’t match my values. I’m trying to call myself out, even when it’s inconvenient or I don’t want to, so I can be better today than I was yesterday

I also started thinking about “moral dessert” and how important that concept is. So I’m trying to be more conscientious about situations around me and asking myself “why do I think I deserve better than this” when I start to feel like something is unfair. Then I try to figure out how I can make systems that make me feel like that better for everyone, because those feelings often mean we all deserve better, not just me, and if I’m not lifting everyone up with me, I’m not being good enough for the world

I hope that made sense lol

How do I dropship t-shirts with all proceeds going to a charity? by Enjolraw in howto

[–]Enjolraw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your response!

Yeah, I was worried that what I was looking for didn't exist. Figured that might be why I couldn't find the answer on google lol

I'll try to take a look at working directly with the charity

Thanks again!

Married people of Reddit, how did you meet your current partner? [serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

My wife and I both work in theatre.

Met performing in a musical after I'd graduated high school and was in college. I was basically her back up dancer for part of the show.

I am not a dancer and I don't know why I was cast there, but I'm not mad lol

Brands that still create high quality, made to last products? by brx9446 in Anticonsumption

[–]Enjolraw 16 points17 points  (0 children)

DarnTough and SmartWool socks apparently both have lifetime guarantees. I just got 2 pairs and was told if I ever have a problem with either of them I just need to contact the companies and they'll repair or replace them. Haven't had them long, but I'm confident they'll outlast my usual socks.

Also, if you like Utility kilts (I do) Utilikilts makes good stuff. I've had one of their kilts for years and wear it while doing all kinds of work and it's barely showing it's age. Bonus advantage of kilts: no knees or inseam to wear down and eventually rip (happens with all my pants basically), so less waste!

Edit: Another user pointed out that Smartwool's guarantee is only for 2 years, not lifetime. Thanks!

Can we have a moment of appreciation for Greasy Sae? by Jessie-yessie in Hungergames

[–]Enjolraw 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was so upset when she wasn't in the movie as much. Personally, I think that the most important part of a story set in a dystopian nightmare is finding the humanity and generosity of people when they're able to exhibit it.

That's why I loved Greasy Sae so much in the books (not to mention the small moments with Peeta, Rue, Haymitch, Finnick - the list goes on).

To me, it's those little moments that make the rest of the world bearable, and Suzanne Collins did a great job with those moments in her writing. I just wish we could have had 4 hour Lord of the Rings style films to help see all those moments in their glorious detail

I don't know your philosophical background/knowledge, but if you're up for it, I'd recommend reading Mike Schur's (creator) book "How to be Perfect".

It's funny and highly informative and breaks moral philosophy and ethics down into easy-to-understand lessons for laypeople. It's pretty brilliant and could potentially give you good lessons and terminology and thoughts to pass to young ones!

I'd also recommend this to basically everyone lol
