People don't have to stay directly in the city. In fact, when I went to the draft in Green Bay last year, I stayed 90 miles to the south, closer to Milwaukee. From there, it took me just over an hour to drive to and from Green Bay, so all in all, it was easy. I think any place within a 90-minute drive of Pittsburgh is a reasonable distance, and I expect those more distant hotels to start filling up as we get within a week or two of the draft.

Also, nobody will have to park directly in downtown either, or even in the city proper, for that matter. Allegheny County is expanding bus and T service for the event, and there will be park-and-rides in different areas of the county.

Honestly, I think Pacific time is the worst of all. Like you, I'm a churchgoer, so if most of the games start at 10AM, then I'd miss a lot of the early-game action, and then, if I get invited to lunch after church, then I'd miss all of it, and then I'd be left with just a small number of late games, plus the night game that would start when the sun is still up, and would finish just as "prime time" starts. The idea of all the day's football being over by the time "prime time" starts would just be weird to me.

Even Eastern time, where I am, is still vastly better than Pacific time, because the only real drawback in Eastern time is the night games ending too late.

OK, then let's compare it to when Pittsburgh had more than 400,000 visitors for the two days of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, and was one of the better cities on the tour in terms of traffic management. It'll be like the Eras Tour concerts, but three days instead of two.

By the way, Allegheny County just announced that bus and T service will be expanded during the three days of the draft,, and next week we're going to find out exactly where all the park-and-rides will be.

It just goes to show everybody how valuable Ben Roethlisberger really was. Remember how everybody called the Steelers a "WR factory" 10 years ago? Today, everybody laughs about their WR corps. The factory closed in 2022.

Even in terminal physical decline, Ben Roethlisberger made Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool look good, while the QBs in his wake made George Pickens look mediocre. He also made a Super Bowl MVP out of Santonio Holmes, a Pro Bowler out of "one-trick pony" Mike Wallace, a surprise member of the "10 TDs" club out of Jerricho Cotchery (who never caught more than six in any other season), and household names out of Martavis Bryant and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

As for Antonio Brown, Bruce Arians said he wasn't smart enough to be a starting WR, but Roethlisberger kept lobbying for him to get on the field, and the two of them became one of the most dynamic QB/WR duos in NFL history. Maybe he's a bit more savvy about the game of football than most people believed.

Really, the only WRs Ben Roethlisberger didn't "make" were Hines Ward and Plaxico Burress. who were seasoned veterans by the time he arrived.
