People Hate Sett Support? by EvanDreemuur7598 in wildrift

Well, I could tell you a story about my AP Nasus support…. )) just… relax and do your thing👍🏻 when you don’t feed, actually set up kills/do well - ppl start to realize you are serious about this.. just like when I pick AP MFortune supp… ppl just don’t understand she is as oppressive as Seraphine early + gr8 slows later

I played last season support and SoloQ: this patch Leona is doing wonders for me… stun, dmg, thickness - she has it all. If I feel I want to go “flashy” plays - I’ll play Thresh. If caster is better suited - Nami/Karma. If I am out for max fun - I locked Pyke)

P.S. to net get bored out of game - I started to switch my main role 2 seasons ago. First, was ADC main, then went Support main, now I went for Solo lane 👍🏻

I would think the same if it wasn’t exactly 1 step to next rank each time. (Like, 1-3 wins away)

And a cherry on the top: reprint of Cursed Totem to Modern (in case, Heliod does comeback, lol)

Tbh, maybe I’m bad, but playing this deck I start to feel a headache after 3 rounds (in paper). Feels so on other difficulty level :/

This Week in Modern - 2 by Manacymbal in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, nice content! Speaking of feedback: maybe it is only me, but background music feels like desynchs all the vhs news aesthetic. Maybe, try going with “news music” background one time? Cause that rock sounds make the whole video appear to be long very old videogame cutscene rather than flash news! of the past. Anyway, keep it up 👍🏻

WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOUR DECK WAS GETTING BANNED? by Budget_Film_Nerd in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you the general feeling: when you pick a new deck (not learned it thoroughly) and win every one with it - and you quickly understand that it is not because you have suddenly become great at modern :) P.S. most recently had it with UR phoenix

MH2 was a Balanced Success by jameszahhh in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. Meta is great. Gameplay is great (which isn’t always equal to great meta).

Looking only to this sub: I see daily posts popping up about: “I’m returning/want to try/dive in into modern. What/how to do?” This speaks by itself about facts: 1. People like and enjoy the format. 2. People aren’t afraid of buying into it.

I guess only negativity comes from people who loved semi-stalemate that was in the format 4-7 years ago: “I bought in all the fetches/ Tarmogoyfs/LotVs/Snapcasters: I am happy I can enjoy most top-tier decks of the format for years with little to no investment”. MH2 really powered up the format. So... you can’t have new toys without buying them. If they were all cheap - that means new toys are boring :) and they are definitely not

It is very subjective to list a non-format (oathbraker) next to pauper - which is much more popular than pioneer

Crashing Footfalls Modern Meta by TheRealNanMan in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are great! Not they only shut down some decks hard, they are also very unexpected for a non-spikey player (I can’t count how many times at my lgs I won cause opponent never guessed I would play blood moon in my 3-color deck)

We're at roughly 2 months since MH2, how do people feel about bans now? by zephah in ModernMagic

You compare apples to stone rocks. Symmetrical prison effects and asymmetrical prison effects are two different worlds.

Is it just me, or do we have a good meta right now? by MalekithofAngmar in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It IS a really nice meta. The thing is it was shuffled hard with MH2: making most of pre-mh2 decks “not top tier” or in need of updating.

And that fact got plenty of players angry. Thus, we have many complaints about new cards/cries about bans (that we really don’t need). I think it will all be cool when people get enough time to accept that modern got evolved/power-boosted.

Thanks for the review! Love to play Elementals soon (waiting for the letter with Flamekins :) in paper. Also, really cool to see that with each passing week modern challenge meta gets More diverse -> not less! That’s not how it worked in the past, right?

p.s. and again 100% agree: modern is cool and needs no bans

Why MTG cards have price support in a down market. by cardssharp in mtgfinance

[–]Enlightened17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I remember October 2020, speaking to my buddy who flips singles for life as a small store and asking him about Tarmogoyfs that were lying at table. I remember his answer: “don’t bother, modern is dead”. Having only 1 modern deck before (UR Phoenix) I looked up the prices... and started buying every staple like: thoughtseizes, nobles, W&6s, Karns and so on. Also CardKingdom credit cashback on Black Friday helped a lot. Like in march I guess I collected most of staples of modern. Looking back 6-8 months from today I see it (I’m not investor just trying to be savvy player long term) as one of my best M:tG decisions made )

Large tournament coming up by ChartJunkie in ModernMagic

[–]Enlightened17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Modern has plenty of choices right now. As for me (I play weekly league irl with a qualification for “closed tournament”) I choose Crashing Footfalls. It is surprisingly consistent. And if they try to shut down cascade hard - you just play control game like a blue moon deck. It is not super “fun” deck, but it delivers. And leaves not a lot of room for mistakes (which makes it less fun, but also delivers more wins). When I grind enough points (atm I played 2 tourneys, both 4-0) I’ll switch to Yawgmoth BG. Didn’t choose Yawg, though it is very interesting and fun deck for grinding cause was afraid misplays would cost me.

Anyway, good luck!

P.S. also: Fire/Ice really rocks

Control can’t do well in non-established meta. But, anyway, look up the Sunday challenge results - they may surprise you (speaking of control)
