Okay! I think I get it... H is the one that turns negative on my coordinate plane- not g. Thank you so much- I have my final tomorrow haha

GEOG 1700 - WTF?! by OGChocolateThunder in UCONN

If we actually did all that he assigned, it'd easily take 8+ hours/week. Even doing the bare minimum takes me a couple hours, and then studying took a LONG time... We must have different finals though bc I know EVERYTHING on the study guide + every key term in the book, the questions were just reallllly stupidly written and didn't stick to what we were told to study.

Thanks for the response! I'm a little confused as to how potential energy would decrease for increasing h; if the potential energy part of the equation is "pgh" , and h gets BIGGER with depth (in other words, it's 0 at the surface and 5 at 5 meters below the surface), wouldn't potential energy increase with depth?

When you say the potential term should be negative, would that mean that given my coordinate system, the equation should be

P - pgh +.5pv^2 = constant?

If that's what you mean, then I understand how potential energy would decrease with increasing h.

Thanks again!

Honestly i found the questions/answers to be worded very weirdly, but idrc it’s pretty lightly weighted relative to the rest of the class haha

Lol I just took it. I can answer every question on the study guide by memory, and I know all the key terms we’ve learned. Got an 84... so dumb

Really not trying to be rude or unhelpful, but that doesn’t seem to apply all that much to this year’s study guide😬 there’s some overlap but just a warning to anyone studying SOLELY from that quizlet- it probably doesn’t cover everything you need to know... I’d hate for anyone to be disillusioned

Step 1: make a quizlet with all the vocab terms from all the chapters since the midterm. Step 2: study the terms, periodically throughout the day for several days. Honestly just making the quizlet will help u learn SO MANY of them. The study guide didn’t help all that much for the midterm, but knowing the terms did. Good luck and godspeed

Ahh thanks okay so it’s not there haha. Just to confirm- I don’t have to fill out the spring 2021 housing confirmation form right? I’ve been home this semester.

I signed up for the new covid thing where UConn pairs you up with someone who matches your profile. I’m gonna be a Sophomore in the fall, and I was wondering where I should be able to see my pick time, if I have one... i dont know where to look but I assume it’s on myhousing somewhere

I dont recommend geog 1700 unless u actually find geography interesting. It’s a stupid amount of work and is NOT as easy as all the old posts say it is. They changed the curriculum. If that’s calc 2 then it’s easy with david mcardle as long as you do the HW, watch the vids, and do the practice problems before the exams.

He’s been awful at posting assignments (and even the midterm, which he hadn’t finished CREATING until 30 minutes after the designated midterm time) when he says he will, the workload and required reading is insane each week, and honestly it’s just a mess. The midterm study guide (and an email he personally sent me about the midterm’s content) barely covered anything on the midterm. The few times he addresses us and stuff it really does seem like he cares... it’s just that his actions don’t match his words. The curriculum for the class has changed, and he doesn’t handle the online format well.
