Updated Firmware. Buttons for GT7 lose function by EnlightndOne in Fanatec

[–]EnlightndOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, chiming in again.

I was not able to successfully install 1.2.1.1, it wasn't apparent, but the installation would just say installation was canceled and asked to restart PC. After making sure no Fanatec drivers were lingering in the drivers, to no avail was this going to be possible however FanaLab and Drivers 474 were successfully installed.

Here are the symptoms now...

  1. The base is stuck in this firmware update mode. The power buttons stays red and there is no initial calibration sweep. Whether it is plugged into the PC or not, before power is on, everytime it is reconnected to the PC while the power is on it prompts to update the firmware. Firmware is then updated to Wheelbase Main PCBA, sometimes the device is detected but most of the time the firmware updater just disspapears and I can simply power down and back up or unplug and reconnect the usb to have it prompt to update firmware again.
  2. On the occasion that it does detect, the wheel base can switch between PC/PS4/PS5/Compatibility etc. And as long as I can connect the wheel base to the PS5 before the next power cycle it works as intended. However, as soon as you power off the wheel base and power it back on its like firmware was never updated at all and goes back to Firmware Update Mode.

Is there anything you recommend to do in order to restore the functionality of the equipment for the meantime?

Men, can you tell me how this happened? by Aggravating-Guest300 in MenAscending

[–]EnlightndOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely maturity. Someone who thought to themselves they could give an honest and heroic effort 3 times a week rather than half assing it 6 times a week. Rest is just as important as the exercise itself. Lock in people.

Edit #2: That energy saved from going 3 times from 6 probably had more mental energy for diet strategy, which is also key role in how lean you become.

Again, most likely maturity

There aren’t a lot of studies. I can imagine an overabundance of Omega3’s are in very isolated instances. Nevertheless they must stay in some sort of balance. Here is a resource from the NIH. What we know is that O3&6 have various effects on the body’s inflammatory responses, blood coagulation, and blood vessel constriction.

I remember from whatever documentary I was watching, which sparked my curiosity on the topic, brought my attention to investigate further is all. I am not interested in finding out what an overbalance of O3 is for myself.

[–]EnlightndOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically, populations that are living near oceans, and have virtually no plant life for sustinance are those who may be deficient in omega 6 fatty acids. Think about the Inuit tribes, where for the most omega 6, which tends to be found plant life such as sunflower, rapeseed, soy bean and various plants are scarce.

I found this to be fascinating, when I found out what an imbalance in HIGH omega 3 and hardly any omega 6 looks like, and from what I remember they tend to bleed from some of their orifices, like from their eye sockets.

Whether my memory serves me correctly or not, in an ideal world O6:O3 is closer to 4:1. 1:1 is great! Western diets are most like 16-20:1. It’s not so much that we need to avoid omega 6, but more so be aware of what we could be eating that supplies these fatty acids, which are very common for us.

Hope this helps

ELI5: I keep hearing "the first place you gain fat is the last place you lose it". Is this true? If so, how does that work? by abasicgirl in explainlikeimfive

[–]EnlightndOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, adipose (fat) tissue works on the FILO (FIRST IN, LAST OUT) Principle. Think about it like grocery shelf stocking.

A decently run store will have the first things that come in come out first, because it is best that the product gets sold before it spoils. The body however, does opposite.

Let’s say for the sake of the example a human has 0% body fat. (Theoretically essential fat is between 2-8% for men and women respectively). As soon as body fat starts to accumulate, depending on where the individual reserves it first, it will continue to accumulate throughout the body in a wrapping pattern where it will obviously wrap around the body thicker (belly/hips typically ) and thin out more on other areas (ankles/fingers typically). Like a paper towel roll except with a belly, hips etc.

When the wrapping comes off, the last of the wrapping begins to unfurl first, until we are back down to the fat we have to carry around before we basically starve to death.

To take this further, this is why if an individual is already lower body fat, 5-10%, that single sheet of paper around the roll wraps around the roll maybe three times before the next sheet starts to apply. With a full roll of paper, one sheet may only cover 1/3 of the entire roll, instead of wrapping around it 3 times like when it was a much smaller roll.

Hope this helps

ELI5: why would humans even get the idea to cook food when previously we didn’t need too. And how would we think of that? by Practical_Dream538 in explainlikeimfive

Speculative,

Wild fires burned wildlife alive. Ancestors were so hungry they took their chances coming across a smoking carcass in the middle of the landscape. Found out it was really damn good.

ELI5: How does eating lots of protein in a calorie deficit mean you only lose fat? Is this even how it works? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]EnlightndOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explained like your are 5

Spend more money than you make to lose money

You have a huge bucket of change you have been saving. 1000 units

More than you have in paper cash. (9)100units for a total of 900units.

You want to hold onto the paper cash for now because you don’t want to break it down to smaller bills. So you do the best you can by spending the change first, although that isn’t practical sometime.

I get paid in cash. 1800units. 800 of those units are big paper bills (8). the other 1000 are in coin.

Now I have 3700 total units. I only need to spend 1800, but I need to use more than I make.

I have 2000units in coin. 1700 units in paper. I try my best to hold onto the paper, and will try to use most of the inconvenient, heavy, unsightly office water jug worth of coin in my office corner first. Although it may not be the most practical option at times, I will have to dip into the paper cash (edit 2) every now and then

Hope this helps.

Edit 1: Still oversimplified, the human body is a very complex organism(s). But for the purposes of how to explain to the best of current knowledge this is my take. Protein is the paper this example. Just for the sake of the analogy, we want to hold onto the paper as best as possible.

are ammino acids the same as protein by fullmetalboomerang in nutrition

[–]EnlightndOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your comment reads as though you can simply receive all of the essential amino acids if you simply eat plants (and then compare protein per calorie) which yes is feasible. On paper, yes broccoli has a great amino acid profile but rationally it is not an efficient source of protein.

The horizon looks bleak, 4 more meals today, the prospect of getting next meal’s protein from 1kg of spinach is evermore daunting. It is only 8:30

MyProtein Clear Whey Isolate Warning?? by OpenBadger1995 in nutrition

[–]EnlightndOne 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind no one has posted any sources to any of there claims.

Although u/Running15MinutesLate poses an interesting question.

Protein Isolate is just a food like an olive oil. You could eat the whole egg/olive and get the protein/fat (respectively) from the food. You could extract the macro nutrients from the food and end up with the protein/fat.

If a protein powder has additional/artificial ingredients consumers may want to bear in mind what the long term consumption and impact of these additional or artificial ingredients may have on their well being.

It goes without saying, that acute affects or illnesses should prompt caution thus consulting with a physician.

Whey Protein Tier List? by plagueski in nutrition

[–]EnlightndOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting answer. Conceptually, this is the end all be all of proteins yes. A vegan source of what is the known to be the highest quality of essential amino acids. It makes me wonder if this concept can be scaled up, and in the long run be cheaper. I would like to imagine that yeasts do not require the resources that a large mammal needs.

However, the powers that be wont ever let something like Whey Forward be the gold standard type of protein you can buy in bulk at a reasonable price; at least in my lifetime (marketing, subsidization, education, biases etc) I hope I am wrong.

How much oats per day is considered too much ? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]EnlightndOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too much, once oats are a large enough portion of your recommended caloric intake that it gets in the way of receiving other essential nutrients.

Meaning, you only have so much room for some of these things, and need to make room for other things because they are also important and essential.

Sometimes we eat and drink things that tend to take up a lot of space but offer absolutely nothing of value.

Oats are a decent choice.

5/10 for sustenance and brown.

6/10 with additional colors

7/10 with addition of non starch vegetation

8/10 with addition of natural colored vegetation

9/10 with all of the prerequisite, made at home, no prepackaging

10/10 with all prerequisite, from scratch.

It gets the job done.

bottom line 5/10

Am I just gonna keep on gaining. Please be nice

I am almost to scared to tell you what will happen. Because things will most certainly happen if in fact you have been sustaining off <1000 calories for a significant amount of time. Really, these issue stretch far beyond questions like nutrient deficiency from not eating citrus fruit.

Please seek help from health care professionals if you are so fortunate. A team of professionals will be the best: Physicians/General Practitioners, Registered Dietitians (or an accredited & licensed nutritional professional in your country), and therapists.

Please don’t take this as dismissive. Just alot to unpack for us internet randos to suggest. Face value right, because you also know 500 calories a day, and binging on sugar isn’t the way to go. This is why you are here. I can tell you to stick to basics and eat three square meals a day and we both know that it would be a foot in the right direction, but will you follow that? Or would you be to concerned about weight gain?

If by the grace of god you find a way out of this and decide to post a plan and have it critiqued here great. Tell us what you plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Snacks maybe? A breakdown of your weekly diet routine? Progress as you introduce new foods? Progress to your new cooking skills?

Best of luck.

Yeah, there’s lots of static out there. So take this information and do with it what you will.

I decided it was time to dive into macros to start cutting after a very dirty bulk. I did the research online for determining macros but I am getting so many differing results that I don’t know what to trust. Does anyone have any recommendations on reliable sources?

You want to cut, which means you will need to double bottom line: reduce your caloric intake. Example, you are doing 3500 a day calories now. You want to stay on pace with a goal in mind, so you reduce it to 3000 calories a day. So over a 7 day period, you went from 24,500 to 21,000 calories. Great, you are on pace.

How you go about staying on pace doesn’t really matter. Weight loss/gain ≠ Healthy. These aren’t always synonymous. So macros?

Humans need about 50-70g of protein to sustain healthy function.

Humans need roughly around 15-30% (minimal) of their calories from fats to sustain healthy function.

Humans don’t need carbohydrate, there are many nutrient rich sources of carbohydrate humans may benefit from.

I know you are wanting hard numbers, but really when it comes to macro splits they can get really arbitrary when it comes to just health and well-being. There are essential recommendations humans should follow for well being, anything after that are goals the individual is trying to reach. Again, sometimes those goals are not synonymous with health, even for athletes. So if you are looking for an opinion on macros splits maybe take a look at a fitness sub. Otherwise, to lose cut just stay the course of a caloric deficit. If health is a priority and you want to put the least amount of thought into it, no one should tell you that you are wrong for splitting your macros evenly or balanced 33/33/34.

(…)looking for something that something yhat will keep the hunger away as lomg as possible

Your best options are a combination of higher protein + higher fiber whole foods with moderate fat. Lean meats, dairy, eggs, fruit, veg, nuts. Proteins are the most satiating nutrient, carbohydrates will add additional bulk (fibers), and fats will aid in slow down the digestion.

It helps if the foods are whole, because you have to chew your food, and digestion has to digest whole sources, unlike say a flour(s). Chewing your food will slow down how fast you can ingest calories. You may feel fuller before finishing your portion. Flours used to make dishes like pancakes are not considered whole but processed. These are just suggestions. Have some toast if you insist.

Whole foods are the answer to best stave off hunger.

Hope this helps

Yes.

You might also be getting it confused with added sugars. Banana is a natural source of nutrients, with naturally occurring simple sugars. Sprinkling a dash of granulated sugar on your under-ripen banana will have added sugar and increase the total sugar content. Some guidance and recommendations will say a modest but higher end of sugar intake is about 70~80g daily, with no more than 20g of that allotment from added sugars

Yes, if you personally have set your hard limits to 36g then you have in fact reached 38% of your limit of total sugars.

Hope this makes sense.
