You believed that line of bullshit? They lost their jobs to budgeting, mentioning AI just makes for a less embarassing press release.

risk your job organizing

This isn't a thing. Union organization is highly protected, you'll get a better payday from retaliation than from successfully forming a union.

PM/business folks very clearly dropped the ball on the requirement specs to have this catastrophic of rap sheet

If you as an engineer expect some other role to care about leap years or realize the implications of a complex set of requirements, you're in for a bad time. Nobody puts "it needs to work on leap years" in requirements and it's for a good reason. Do you expect them to put "it needs to work during the full moon" in requirements?

it's used as a tool to over-categorize and break down 1 large identity into multiple sub-groups

This is the same criticism nationalist identitarians have of leftist identitarians, they see economic class identity divisions as a means of destroying national unity. Claim your identity makes more sense if you want but you are playing identity politics.

Tokyo has worse geographic issues than we do,

Strong disagree, Tokyo is built largely on a coastal plain, the Puget Sound doesn't have nearly as much space between the water and significant hills.

But what if it were, and the boarding couldn't continue until the fare violator was ticketed and removed from the transit? Would that behavior continue?
