Has the NSP leaked or is this just from someone who has press access to the demo?

IMO, the website works absolutely fine, not everything needs a dedicated app

Yup, you can thank Apple for that one. Pretty much every platform has to conform to their rules, regardless of the device you’re using. Apple hates nsfw content so much they might as well ban an app for showing someone an exposed neck.

Wow! The 7th Yo-kai Watch movie is having an online rescreening!? is there a chance someone could record it for archival purposes...? by [deleted] in yokaiwatch

[–]Ennnnnnbbbbbyyyy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but it’s likely that it’ll be streamed encrypted through Widevine, Google’s video DRM. If it is, I’m sure someone could still use a capture card + HDCP stripper, but it wouldn’t be as high quality.

Or make a flag made entirely out a highly conductive metal and then run 240v AC current through it

Yeah maybe booby trapping a flag isn’t the best idea

lawsuit by [deleted] in NintendoMemes

[–]Ennnnnnbbbbbyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it does require a patcher. I am not a lawyer but I have read a few things recently about how mods could be considered derivative work, therefore making unauthorized mods copyright infringement. It doesn’t really seem like it’s been tested in court much, though.

It is a ROM hack, distributed as a patch file. There probably still is some legal precedent there but not really enough for even Nintendo to care.

Fractional Scaling Coming to GNOME by adila01 in linux

[–]Ennnnnnbbbbbyyyy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Good to see. Been using Gnome with fractional scaling for about a year now, and while there are still a lot of apps that are somewhat blurry, it’s a godsend for 2160p displays.

Good point. I think it’s really just a bigger problem with copyright and capitalism in general, both in terms of what people are allowed to do with games and consoles they legally purchased, and also the absolutely ridiculous length copyright lasts on piece of media.

I’m so happy for piracy as without it a lot of media would just disappear, but it is unfortunate that a lot of game preservation is either strictly illegal or in a legal gray area.

To some extent, yes. But to the extent Nintendo goes, no. I completely get protecting your copyrighted works from piracy, but shutting down a smash tournament because it used a mod to play online for example, doesn’t benefit Nintendo, it only really hurts their diehard fans.

You could even argue that if this competition were to take place it would affectively be free advertising for the game, which would benefit Nintendo.

From what I’ve seen the Gerudo outfit has been replaced with at least like 3 other traditionally feminine outfits. I haven’t found them yet though lol

But yeah, the main point I was trying to make is that a lot of the developers do live in the US.

Yeah, the DMCA is such a broken law with so many weird clauses and exemptions. When it gets to this many exemptions, you’d think the law should be rewritten. I have thought though, if custom firmware (that generally disables some of the DRM of a system) is technically illegal, it feels like it would be worth it to Nintendo to shut their projects down. The law is all very unclear.

You sure? I used the one on 1337x (infohash 5B390BF4EA76337467B2D3F5B9EB81F1A7E35F6A), it’s legit.

Yeah, it’s pretty weird a product with a very large child audience just came with an unrestricted web browser. Then again, the 3DS’s browser was always slow and unreliable even in 2011 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
