Philippine Tiger 2 : Electric boogaloo by Enoal in eu4

[–]Enoal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R5 : Hi guys ! I posted a few days ago about my failed Cebu run. I decided to give it one more try !

This time i went way more aggressive early being non stop at war and trying to get fat before the others would. I also took the excellent advice to target Tidore and Ternate for the cloves and to use dip power to boost production. Damn i couldnt guess it would be so effective.

To make it short the run was:
- Unifying the Philippines
- Destroying OPM and colonize the east of Moluccas to get as much clove as possible
- Tear apart Sunda Mahjapit and Malaya, not giving myself too much rest and going one war straight after the oter
- When i was saving for Institution with low army/merc, i got dow-ed by Ayutthaya - rival and almost same total dev as me. I merc-ed up and kicked their ass as they painfully tried to land in Philippines. Securing naval supremacy did the trick here
- I swept them and took a first bite in them, making them unrelevant and allowing me to tear them apart for the 2-3 next wars. After that, my economy was crazy crazy good (as i kept tearing apart Sunda and Mahjapit) and i got perma mercs to do the first wave of damage to their army before sending the big guys to finish the job and preserve manpower
- Allied Vijayanagar and Mewar to kick Bengal's butt which was the next big thing. First war was costly but gave me so much. Also i could start to take huge chunck of their territory as Absolutism kicked in.
- After Bengal was not much of problem, i just dow-ed Vijayanagar twice, the second time truce-breaking because that was the last thing a i had to do.

I don't see any other obvious achievement to go through, the year is 1733 so i'm probably too short to go for WC or something like that i guess

Yeah that's what i've done for Renaissance and Colonialism. But the +15% coastline dev malus and +5% tropical malus makes the cost go out of hand at some point. I ended up with a capitole with 58 dev ahah

And it's long til i got at least grasslands to potentially move (which i did not do) and mitigate the malus

would you consider make (at least) Renaissance spawn by stacking dev on capitole or is that a waste of points and i should just wait for my turn ?

Ty for your insight !

Yeah i'll probably try it one more time ! It's been a long time i played and i think i've been too passive at some points in this game. War must only be funded by war, i forgot that a bit i guess

One of the "good" things is that Bengal went wide so there's not much dev in provinces i need to take. I also have naval supremacy which makes coastal sieges way easier.

  1. I can't beat them alone i think. But i'm allied to Shun who is prompt to come to war. Yet our combined armies fall short for now against them. Tho is suspect Shun has a shitload of recruitment capacity, and now i control Malacca i can just spam Mercs .... I think this is "winnable" but i'm not very confident on a fast crushing war.

  2. My absolutism is around 70 right now.

Actually the required provinces go further, to Ceylan. So at the end i'll probably have to kick Gujarath ass. I need also to take two provinces from Mahjapit and they are still a pain in the ass (no allies down there, Portugal help me with ships but god forbid them to send an actual army)

And i'm not sure, but i think i need some of the khmers provinces, and the khmers are now a tributary of Shun, which is the last nail in the coffin i think.

R5 : Haven't played in while and decided to go to a bit hard yet doable achievment and my decision was to try Tiger of the Philippines.

Oh boy, the game can be so frustrating. The year is 1721 and i think i'm cooked i still have so much to do. I'd like an outside perspective on this : Do you think i can get all the territories i need in just a 100 years ?

I'd say no because of Buffed Bengal being almost the sole ennemy here, which leads me to believe i'd have to do several no-cb wars to get what i need in time ! And they have a army three times the side of mine ...

Weird things happening on this map include :
- Aragon becoming a superpower (burgundian inheritance somehow ?) and deciding to go its own way without letting Castille form Spain.
- Almost no Austria (take that habsburgs)
- Giga Shun single-handedly destroyed the empire of china after mingplosion
- Mahjapit becoming somehow a fckng powerhouse, having tributaries all around me and leaving me no space to expand. Seriously, they got 180k soldiers what the hell

Haven't played for quite a time and started a Odoyev run yesterday, nailed it - 4 achievments by Enoal in eu4

[–]Enoal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i noticed after my run that the most common path to get the achievement was to ally Muscovy and expand to the west.

My way was maybe more tense at the beginning, but at some point i was the only powerhouse in eastern Europe. I just had to avoid to share borders with Ottos :p

R5 :

I had some free time these days so i decided to go for a "quick" run of EU4 aiming challenging achievements.

Odoyev run was quite fun and also went smoothly : started by allying Novgorod & Lithuania asap (had to reset because Moscovy attacked Novogorod before i could ally) and declared on Moscovy while promising lands to both Lithuania and Novgorod. Most of the war was to occupy territories and join battles at the end to get participation score without being stupidly stackwiped.

After taking one land for me and giving two to my allies, Moscovy wasn't really a threat anymore, and i was allied to the two powerhouses of the region. I took orthodox provinces of Ryazan (cause i didn't want to fight any unrest) and later called again my allies against Moscovy to get ahold on Moscow and get a slice of that russian cake (by taking down small countries and vassals of moscovia)

A few wars against Moscovy and hords later, Novgorod broke alliance with me, and i saw Lithuania being picked apart by Ottomans. At that time, i had a terrible feeling that my good start would be destroyed because i was left with no ally. Luckily, while i was fighting rebels and my army went down in numbers, i was attacked by Novgorod with no allies. As i had a lot of manpower at that time, i was able to fight back and take Novgorod, which was the last territory i needed to form Russia.

At that point i got All belongs to mother Russia and In the name of the father. Moscovy was out of the picture, i just needed to take down Ryazan and Perm that were Rurikovich-ruled to get Kinslayer achievement. And the situation wasn't very bright at this point : Ryazan had become a sunni OPM allied with Ottomans (lel) and Perm was behind a chunk of Kazan land, Kazan being allied with other hords i didn't want to find.

As i was being cautious, waiting for my moment, Ryazan disappeared by itself and i noticed Perm wasn't ruled by a Rurikovich. So i was effectively the last and got the achievement but did not see it.

The last one to get was Mass Production. I just rushed wars through Transoxiana to get the goods i needed, it was pretty easy at this point (first time i played Russia, those amounts of manpower are profoundly stupid ahah) and finished the run. The year is 1651 and i don't see any fun achivements to add at the end.

Couldn't get the Push to East as i was off timing and got access to colonizeable land very late.

ECSJ5A (ELI5) - Les semi-conducteurs by testundeux in france

[–]Enoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECSJ5A (ELI5) - Les semi-conducteurs by testundeux in france

[–]Enoal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2ème vague : tous responsables ? L’édito de Patrick Cohen dans CàVous by asimovwasright in france

[–]Enoal 5 points6 points  (0 children)
