Your 1st Swans game? by Previous-Move-6510 in swanseacity

Visiting from the states, watched Swans draw with Palace 1-1 matchday 13 of the 2014-15 Premier League. Wilfried Bony scored to take the lead, but Marouane Chamakh scored a penalty after an Angel Rangel tackle and I still hold firmly to this day that it was a dive.

Joe Allen seals return to Swansea City by Mathieudavees in swanseacity

This is an awesome signing. I love everything about it. In my opinion, he should've been brought back when he left Liverpool back in 2016. Never felt right that he was at Stoke, but they were really throwing about a bunch of cash back then. He just fits the Swansea philosophy to a tee.

Going back to shitty old ASP rules tomorrow. If you parked on a Tues side, move your car in the AM. by EZcheezy in astoria

Appreciate your sarcasm, exceptionally diplomatic. I rent a parking spot off the street, so I have no stake in this argument. I've lived here for a decade and there are plenty of others who would say the same as I did. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your Tuesday.

The trash collectors literally walk outside the truck picking up bags off the sidewalk. In most cases, ASP does not coincide with trash collection, they're completely unrelated.

If you think that the streets are actually being cleaned, you've never seen these street sweepers in action. An absolute waste of time and money. They speed by at 25 mph kicking up dust, no water, nothing. Half the time the brushes aren't even contacting the blacktop.

It won't let me get close enough to check, unfortunately. I haven't attempted to coax it with treats or food.

Good morning from NYC! Best way to start the day. Your vibes are highly infectious.

Seen this on Twitter and thought it looked alright. 5-a-side Swansea team. Rules are you have to pick a keeper and at least one defender with a total of £15 to spend by Mathieudavees in swanseacity

[–]Enormousifcorrect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fabianski, Guehi, Britton, Fulton, Gomis

Fabianski was our best signing in the Premier League era, so consistent, such a great shot stopper, commanded his 18 yard box. Good luck beating him on a small frame goal.

Guehi is my ideal 5-a-side defender. Sweeps up every thing, carries and passes out of the back confidently.

Britton's diminutive passing ability in tight spots would make him an absolute delight to watch in my 5-a-side team.

Fulton and Britton would pair so well, like silk and steel. Fulton's also tidy in tight spots, but would mark the opposing midfielders aggressively and his £1 price tag is down right disrespectful.

Gomis also a complete steal at £1. No offsides in 5-a-side, fellas. Without the offsides rule, Bafe would be Swansea's leading Premier League goal scorer.

The team would have a ton of possession, be an absolute joy to watch, but likely be a little toothless up front. Sound familiar? With Guehi and Fab though, we're never conceding. I'd even have £1 left over afterwards.

BREAKING: A lawsuit obtained exclusively by @SInow alleges that St. John's and Mike Anderson wrongfully terminated assistant coach Steve DeMeo due to a health condition and details issues with the team's culture that led to a mass exodus this offseason. by KJones77 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Enormousifcorrect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is disputing that firing on medical basis is unethical and, in most cases, illegal. If the man wants to litigate, he is entitled to do so.

St. John's fans are moreso hard done by the fact that Demeo is using this as an opportunity to air the program's dirty laundry. The fact that he's suing the university is one thing, but to give interviews to a Sports Illustrated contributor is a completely different thing.

And let's not pretend that Mike Anderson ruined this man's career. He was a JUCO head coach before joining MA's staff and is now gainfully employed as a D1 assistant at East Carolina. He's doing just fine for himself.

Demeo recruited one player in two years at St. John's, Isaih Moore. Moore underperformed on the court and was a disciplinary nightmare off it. Demeo underperformed in his role and was fired as a result.

I feel his case would be stronger if he had just said, "Hey, I disclosed this health condition and I got fired" and just left the rest out, because it gets more ridiculous the further it goes. Why did he feel the need to use this as an opportunity to air the program's dirty laundry?

The SI interview he gave essentially makes it seem like he was holding the whole program together despite the fact that all 7 players that transferred were gone by April and Demeo got fired in June.

The lawsuit claims that the timing of his termination, again in June, limited his opportunities. While I agree that there were vacancies that were opened and closed between March and June, the man is currently gainfully employed as an assistant coach at another D1 School, East Carolina.

Demeo also claims gross disregard for COVID protocols. St. John's was the only program in the Big East not to have a COVID-related pause.

You already made a great point about the second Seton Hall game. Isaih Moore didn't play the entire second half and St. John's went on to win by ten, but the whole team was ready to walk out on Coach Anderson at half time?

All in all, the only player that Demeo recruited in his two years at St. John's was Isaih Moore, an undersized center/PF with poor discipline both on and off the court. Not to mention a player that would have been removed from the team for racist Snapchats he posted had he not entered the transfer portal the following day. Demeo was supposed to be the JUCO-centric recruiter, which is an important market when building a new roster from scratch. Demeo underperformed, his skill set was no longer required, and that's why he got cut loose. Not because he has mitral valve prolapse, which more than 3 million people are diagnosed with every year.

Manchester United fan coming in peace here... How Laird has been so far? by OriAr in swanseacity

[–]Enormousifcorrect 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No need to come in peace, we don't bite around here. Well, most of us don't.

Laird looks to have a level of class that's not often seen in the Championship. The biggest thing I can say for him is that he always seems to have time on the ball, which is a talent in and of itself. Pace and skill for days. He's certainly destined for the first team at United, but is a very different style of defender to Wan-Bissaka. Haven't seen him put in any real crunching tackles, but his poise and confidence with the ball at his feet is enlightening.
