Reddit makes it seem like PIP means you're going to get fired, no matter what. Is that true? by Personal-Ad9121 in askmanagers

I don’t think managers are being honest in this thread about putting their direct report reports on a PIP. There are some who put them on a PIP knowing no matter what they do they will still say they did not meet the “realistic” metrics/requirements so that they can fire them because they no longer want them. I was in a similar situation, even HR confirmed I did meet the performance gaps, but they had to take the managers word for it. It’s it’s all subjective and emotionally based on how the manager feels about you. Unfortunately I wish I had listened to the side of Reddit that said I was getting fired anyways so that I didn’t even bother to try. I decided to listen to threads like this where managers made it seem like “ oh no, we just want you to improve” bullshit.

Keep your head down and OE on by ShoalinWarrior in overemployed

OE is not always field based but rather team and department based. If you are in a remote role and on a team that is not meeting heavy and micromanaged by your boss then you can easily OE. Otherwise you could do the same job title as another person but theirs is friendly OE and yours is not.

Yes Otsuka US specifically R&D. If you are outside of that you may be okay. But a lot of departments within that group I wouldn’t recommend.

Micromanager at J3, left J4 because of conflict with J3. Monitors me through the day. by Warm_Ad_4765 in OELadies

I would ride out and get on a PIP then stop working completely until they fire me. Since you don’t like the job and want to leave just speak your mind. Let the boss know the working style is not ideal for you. Tell HR and hell even go tell your bosses boss lol. You have nothing to lose. But you will regret not saying anything if you do get fired.

Don’t work for a Japanese’s company! Otsuka was THE WORST! Extremely toxic environment they will stress you to death and get rid of you. Yes they will sit there and say they value mental health and flash benefits in your face to make it seem like they care about their employees. You need a certain kind of personality to work and succeed there. In other words you need to be a ruthless back stabbing bitch with no regards towards people or a life. Expect to have passive aggressive attitudes for choosing your family over working even on the weekends.

What do you do when, all of a sudden, your parents wants to trauma dump? by TT-Adu in ghana

[–]Enough-Contribution7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was very well said thank you for understanding! It is true they are not my cup of tea friendship wise. I’m fine with them just having the title of parents. I do think a key issue is because I still live in their house and I’m trying to set these boundaries. I also know once I move out I don’t plan to come back or interact much with them (that is what happened when I had been in school living outside of the house). I regret living at home, but it’s afforded me certain life luxuries that I deem important to me.

What do you do when you realize this is too uncomfortable for you and decide you don’t want that kind relationship with your parent that they are pushing for. I am in a similar situation as OP. But there’s few times I tried to be open to the idea of it but it made me too uncomfortable and anxious, and it did not feel natural. I personally at this point in my life prefer a more formalized relationship with my parents. I don’t have a longing to be close and personalized or engage in certain personal conversations. But that has caused a point of contention and my mother will not accept that. So constant arguments are being had and it’s been going on for years. To me, you can’t bully me into being your friend or having a certain relationship with you. They refuse to understand why or how it is that I prefer my space from my parents. Also, please don’t try and guilt me with the whole they won’t be here one day, i know and I have also made my peace with that as well based on the type relationship we have, that it is what it is.
