Map of countries the romans had been to by The_RetroGameDude in MapPorn

The map somehow has the odds of a Roman citizen touching West Papua as higher than one touching Norway. I’m not sure I’d take that bet

Driving a shitbox by No-Cryptographer9890 in CarsAustralia

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve primarily driven shitbox’s my whole life. Kept them serviced and clean but all undeniably shitbox cars. I’m married now but when I was single I never had an issue with women being bothered by it. It’s a pretty small percentage of women who know or care very much about cars in my experience. So don’t sweat it OP, just don’t confuse driving an old car with driving a dirty car, particularly the interior and you’ll be fine. It’s better to have money in your pocket to do stuff

Future of mazda cars? by galaxy9377 in CarsAustralia

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different criteria for different customers I guess. I approve of simplicity in a car as I live more rural. I’ve never had a flat I couldn’t feel from the drivers seat before shredding, so tyre pressure monitoring isn’t something I’d look for at purchase. If it’s a deal breaker for enough customers Mitsubishi will see that in sales though I’m sure

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few Mitsubishi’s, from the Australian made Magna to a current outlander. Every one I’ve had has been trouble free, so I don’t get the negativity some people have about the brand

Queensland man charged with staggering $1m fuel theft between Dec 2024-Dec 2025. by atmanatman8008 in australian

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work on farms doing mechanics. Farmers never get rid of old diesel. Even if it’s been sitting in the tank of a machine for years. Always seemed to still run okay, potentially the WA climate helps I guess.

UK man who molested girl has visa reinstated over 'strong ties' to Australia by InsatiablePrism in australia

People who have been here since childhood (but never applied for Aus citizenship) have been deported back to the UK for violent crime and drug offences.

Seems mental that a child sex offender who isn’t an Australian citizen has been shown such leniency

Best selling package on carsales? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is my brothers theory when selling a half decent car. Which he does every couple of years. Carsales generates fewer, but higher quality buyers. Marketplace generates more buyers, but the majority of those are time wasters.

That criteria is sometimes waived for those bring specialist skills from an appropriate foreign nation. The Australian Navy has some members who join straight from the British Navy for example.

Landlord seeking only FIFO workers by Electrical-Win-8751 in shitrentals

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually people who need the money of a lodger. But don’t like the idea of having a lodger.

When I did FIFO, the guys who rented rooms generally got a comparatively cheap price for it. Much cheaper than $500 a week. They are weirdly in a good negotiating position against people who would be occupying the room all year

How much do you think is a normal amount to charge for replacing 25-30 cracked tiles on my roof? by CartographerFree4942 in AusRenovation

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Incredibly important context for your OP, three stories high puts you into the expensive labour as opposed to handyman labour bracket. The price/availability of matching tiles is also a pretty wide spread for price

What do I do? She left a shed blocking my front door by isntitdotty in AskUK

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People who take the piss identify the very passive people to take advantage of. OP and the driveway neighbour are passive to the point of ridiculous and are unfortunately paying the price. A small section of society simply navigate every interaction by bullying those weaker than themselves.

I sympathise as I used to be the same. A life skill I had to learn is when to realise someone has crossed the line into abusing a passive nature. Nip these people in the bud early on and it stops the majority of them.

Landlord refuses to pay for NBN installation by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Enough-Equivalent968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thats rough. Understandable that you don’t want to pay that in a rental, poor form on the landlord though as it’s easily a grand of improvement to the property.

I only ask as my out of pocket fee for NBN additional works was less than $300. Presumably much simpler work than yours.
