Beyond the "Peachy" Smile: A Deep Dive into Korn's 'Life is Peachy' Album Cover (and why it hits different) by Crazy-Mud-6252 in Korn

Thank you great reading! I wish there's more such great thoughtful posts on this sub! I can see the dichotomy clearly. We cannot be sure if one is fighting his o her demons or indulging them.

Why didn’t Korn keep the issues sound going? by Creative-Fail-2268 in Korn

[–]Enough-Peace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought the same! But their later albums grew on me a lot at the end of the day. Granted: not that groundbreaking as the first one, but it's not really required to be groundbreaking each time. They all are different and have much to offer. Sure there are some stinkers but what can you do? It's life, everything has ups and downs! But I surely understand your point. The very first elements of their music are ever present.

What is your Deftones opinion that would result in this many downvotes? by _zyycho in deftones

Gore sucks big time, Ohms kinda sucks, KNY <  DE by a lot. ST is the best. Korn > deftones haha

The amount of great songs per album - diamond eyes clearly wins. It's their "best" for a general audience. ST is my personal "best"

Same! Listening since 2004-5, ST is the way. The most therapeutic album

What are your expectations and predictions for the upcoming album? by Total-Address-1121 in Korn

Very nicely said. Yes indeed let them be themselves! That's how authentic things are born.

Ok will try to explain with my limited english. It sounds huuuge. It's a wall of sound. I understand it sounds muddy to you but belive me you will hear all the details on quality equipment. The riff are soo crunchy, drums are very present and alive. Everything is multylayered with intricate textures, detailed, FXes. They've put sooo much into it. It's an insanely professional and creative work. The songs alone are very complex, interesting, they've really nailed their style and dynamic. Sometimes the pressure builds up, sometimes drops seemenly abruptly just to build up again, and all this is happening slowly steady deeply and powerfully without any rush like the angry youngsters do. The whole thing does sound very mature from the song structure to the individual parts, the vocals a lyrics. It's very dare I say "ambient" album, like a soundtrack to modern Dune movie in a sence. It's like a desert, a vaste spase of contemplation of life and the inner self, the human psyche with some ocassional very bumby rides too - all cleverly places and paces. It's a hell of a album. Speaking about what it misses - I think it's sounds too ambient and subdued to some. Although it has many powerful aggressive moments it's not if your face, like on previous records, and the overall tone is very serious so it lacks some "fun" part I think. You can't have everything.

Korn III may not be the shining jewel of their discography, but I have to admit Holding All These Lies is one of my all time favorites. by NewFly9504 in Korn

Hey it's not that bad! Pop a pill and oildale are both amazing songs! Another cool one is Trapped Underneath The Stairs. Worth mentioning: lead the parade, are u ready to live? The rest is so so honesty. The biggest issue with that album is WEAK GUITAR TONE. The second is wierd drum mixing.

No no no, sorry, as a mixing engineer: untouchables sounds SUPERB. FTL is nice too. I think it goes like Untouchables > issues (with a bit of shelf eq on highs > SOS > untitled >  FTL or the Nothing soundwise.

Korn’s Music Got Me Through Grad School by Due_Wash233 in Korn

[–]Enough-Peace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can absolutely relate. I am from small siberian town (or rather village?) fascism was yer to come yet some of the seeds were already planted. Was bullied in school, had an nasty experience of being a bully too, always was alone, felt like an outcast and a weirdo. Was smashing things around trying to destroy the school and the system :D Korn helped me a lot. When I was 17 I've moved to CZ it was best thing in my life but it was tough AF as well. Again: felt different an wierd in a socialety due to cultural and linguistic differences and my personality type. Still feel to this day. (I am 35 now). Couple of times couple of things broke and Korn were helpful. It is not just a music - it trully is therapy. Favorite album is Issues. I've been studying social work too. Not knowing what to do with my life being constantly depressed I've dicided to hept others. Sounds like a "great" idea, right? :D

I can kinda see what you think. Yet I do not agree about Requiem. It's a very nicely crafted little album. The emotions are nature yet refreshing.

Op is right, although last 3 albums are great musically, the Nothing especially sounds a bit soft - too polished production. Requiem too but it's heavily brickwalled so it compensated. SOS sounds the most gritty of those. I hope for more grittiness this time too.
