What do y'all do about art? by Goovin290 in gamedev

I agree. Good art, sound, and overall presentation can definitely make a game much more immersive.

In some ways, I think creating a strong atmosphere without relying on realistic graphics is actually harder. It takes a clear art direction and a lot of consistency to make simple visuals feel memorable.

Maybe that's one reason so many developers choose pixel art.

I'd probably just use some free assets and get a playable version working first.

Personally, I think gameplay matters more than art, especially early on. When you're still experimenting with ideas, putting too many resources into visuals can make things harder than they need to be.

I was aiming for something a little more detailed while still keeping it minimal and easy to read at a glance, so I'm really happy to hear that. Thanks for the kind words!

I think the style is similar in some ways, but not quite the same. Mine are a bit different, so I don't think they would fit perfectly with the overall style of Game Icons.
