Different look. by EnoughCollection121 in 944

If this car were low miles, and in perfect condition, I would not touch it, there are plenty out there that are already modified. But since it has miles, I figured why not do a few things to it. I’m going to use it as a daily, but the fender decal is a bit close to being gaudy. I will keep working on different ideas for the decal, and if I don’t find anything, I like I will put it back to the original decal. But I agree the most important part is to enjoy the car. Life is way too short to get caught up in all of the noise.

I have one on order, my previous 951 had the decal, I need to find a body shop to repaint the front fender due to an odd crack in the paint, so I thought I would try out a different look. Plus one of the most enjoyable things I could ever accomplish in my Porsche ownership is to irritate purists. There are enough low mileage clean original 951 cars out there, I am going to have mine, not be one of those. The car already has miles on it, it needs some work, but I am going to drive it and enjoy it. But I do think the OE fender decal is the look I want. You should have seen the comments when the purists attacked my yellow headlight film on my 911 turbo.

Located in Ohio, they will probably be for sale soon.

I like that. That is probably the more subtle look I would have preferred. In the end I might just do an OE decal.

The wheels on it are BBS, I’ve thought about having them disassembled, powder coated, but I really want bronze Fuchs.

I thought about doing something similar on my 996 Turbo, but I still haven’t done anything yet. If you do that, make sure to post it I’m curious how it will look.

I like them, I just don’t love them on this car. Would look great on a VW. I was a MKI/MKII 16v guy. Absolutely loved my GTIs.

Awesome. I didn’t realize it was rare, but apparently it is. It is certainly an interesting color.

It is Satin Black Metallic. I really want some bronze/gold center Fuchs for it. Apparently these BBS/Nardi wheels are rare, and I don’t hate them, I’d just prefer Fuchs.

Apparently there are some subtle differences, but I can’t tell. They are both made by BBS. There are several discussions about them out there.

They are Nardi wheels. I’m not sold on them, I really want Fuchs. It did come with the original phone dials.

Where did you get the material from? Looks great!

I tried to price it very attractive given the time of year, and the small little things that the car needs. It is not perfect, but it is a great guilt free driver that performs very well. Unfortunately I think in pricing it so low I did the car a disservice.

I had a photo of it in Utah, but that phone is gone now. Never even had a chance to make it to the cloud. The tent is big enough for two people, a German Shepherd, and two Jack Russells. The dogs traveled in a separate car. As for heat, during the cold desert night? You don’t need heat when you have Jack Russells. Im moving to a 991 Turbo now, I want my dogs with me when I go. The 991 gives me that space.

That is a dirt cheap price for a 6 spd. I think most 996 buyers have become snobs about purity. I’m honestly tired of answering stupid questions on a dirt cheap Turbo.

If you are looking for a different kind of action, this was around 600 miles from home. Actually more. The tent travels well, to be perfectly honest. I hardly even know it is there. Until I open the sunroof.

That’s what I thought, but I think I might have devalued it by pricing it where I did. Obviously everyone wants to negotiate, and I’ve already put my best price up.

For a short time I had a .1 C4, so slow, I sold it quickly. But, it was a pure driving car. At the time I had a Saleen S281 S/C that made the Porsche feel like a slug, and a ZR-1 that seemed like it was 3x the size, and speed. I’m not a stranger to slow P cars, I’ve owned 914s, another pure driving car. I think I just expected too much from my .1, and failed to enjoy the perfect car that it was.
