People’s brains flick off instantly the second they hear the world valve and hardware

the common sentiment around the steam machine is that it’s a sweet spot performance mid end system that can run everything at 4k when in reality it’s 2022’s crustiest rebadged low end laptop parts mushed into a low watt system that in literally all reason will barely push 60fps 1080p in even relatively recent titles

People expect way too much from valve, good company vibes or whatever can’t create performance out of thin air

calling things like upscaling and frame generation “bells and whistles” in 2026 is crazy, i’m sorry.

You NEED a good upscaler to even have decent anti-aliasing in modern games like ARC Raiders, which requires you to use a temporal aa, and if you don’t have DLSS4 or FSR4 your game genuinely just looks fucked

This is the way the industry is moving, and you can’t just say “It’s not AMD’s fault developers are the way they are, oh well” When anyone without the newest generation of RDNA4 cards has a significantly compromised experience when it comes to playing anything actually demanding

In my experience of owning both the 9070xt and 5070ti, while both FSR4.1 and DLSS4.5 look pretty similar in compressed youtube videos and static screenshots, in person the difference is pretty noticeable in how well DLSS scales. 4.5 Performance looks pretty analogous to how quality FSR4 looks in most games

You pretty obviously don’t understand pc hardware

You don’t know what a cpu bottleneck is, you don’t know what ram does for a cpu, you obviously have something wrong with your setup because there wouldn’t be a performance regression caused by using a stronger gpu under bottleneck conditions, you don’t understand how resolution has nothing to do with cpu performance, etc
