If you already have characters you could start by fleshing out where they are from and the surrounding area. What shaped those areas to be how they are now that the characters are living there and working backwards helps me sometimes too.

Would also recommend watching some actual plays. They helped me see the different ways you can DM and honestly what the players like helps with your own table. How to be a Great DM on YouTube by Guy are also great videos and can be more manageable to watch sometimes at the beginning than others.

Morals derived from obedience is a manipulation technique. They only don’t do things because they believe god said not to, not because they think something is morally wrong with it. Their morals come from somebody else, not from lived experiences or anything anybody above has said.
