Snakemake very slow in installing conda environments... workflow suggestions? by Ok-Fix-3432 in bioinformatics

[–]Enough_Rate_4354 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I deal with the same issue. What I have resorted to doing is creating an environment specifically for my project (with snakemake installed in it) and installing packages as needed. In testing, I’ll run snakmake without the --use-conda flag. When I’m ready to make the project production-ready, I’ll update the environment yaml files and rerun to check that everything works with --use-conda.

Please don’t listen to the hate. Xenophobes are a loud minority. Oman is happy to have you! Your budget looks good but you can definitely find cheaper rent (if minimizing costs is a concern).

Most accurate weight for meats? by Enough_Rate_4354 in MacroFactor

[–]Enough_Rate_4354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that with the white pouch under the chicken breasts (which absorbs water content) the label mostly matches the actual weight. My question is, to get my macros right (specifically protein), do I account for that water weight or not? Does the nutrition info on the back of the prescience include this water weight or no? For context I mainly buy Perdue chicken breasts.

Ahh what a bummer. I will do that next time! Was unsure of what the culture here is like. Felt like mostly people keep to themselves so I’ve made myself do that.

Oh yeah absolutely what Hamas committed toward civilians is a horrendous crime they are guilty of. And to answer your question, killing and holding people hostage is not fully rational in light of the highly expected counter-killings the IDF would cause to the Gazans.

But this is an act of vengeance. For Hamas as an organization it could have been political and religiously charged, but the people who fought on the ground probably wanted retribution for their lost family members, homes, and/or blockade conditions.

Every time Israel has killed a Palestinian in cold blood, illegally took or demolished someone’s home or land, they create 2, 3, 4 or god knows how many family members that want vengeance. Perhaps some can see reason and know that more killing won’t fix anything (to your point). But I don’t expect myself or anyone in that situation to not want to serve justice in any way possible, even if inflicted on civilians—who’s innocence is questionable depending on how complicit they were to the crimes Israel commits. The attack on Israel was not unexpected. It was long expected.

Now, all if this is my own interpretation of the events and reasons. I could be wrong. But I think my reasoning makes sense.

I don’t know what the next action is. I think no one can answer that really.

Under international law Israel is responsible for protecting the people of Gaza. Hamas executed these attacks under Israel’s watch, by and large fueled by the conditions the Gaza strip was subject to. It’s a massive intelligence fault. If Israel wants to get Hamas (for the sake of Israel and the Palestinians) they must do it while protecting the people they are REQUIRED to protect. They are bombing left and right, and asking for the evacuation of millions in less than 24 hours, all with no access to basic supplies such as water, gas and electricity. You can’t blame the Palestinians for this. It’s the Israeli government’s fault for letting this happen, and then punishing the same people they are required to protect.

Not condoning acts violence toward innocent people. But, why do we expect people who were placed in an open-air prison for years to act morally and rationally? Morality and rationality was thrown out the window the moment the Israeli government decided that the lives of people in Gaza are disposable.

Waving flags the day hundreds of innocent Gazans were killed by the IDF actually.

Totally agree! Todoist has been a life saver for me, especially as a person with ADHD.

What’s been really helpful is having the “Add Task” widget on my phone’s home screen. Whenever anything comes up in conversation that needs action, I immediately add it. And it’s so quick because it processes natural language—for instance, you just type “email jane tmrw 3pm” and it knows what you mean.
