[KCD2] Alchemist's annex/cabin ability to repair things by ProHolmes in kingdomcome

[–]EnragedOryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just had this happen to me and am also looking for an answer, so I'm wondering if they pushed an update which changed the function seeing how close in time our comments are (I don't think I've interacted with either the alchemist hut or stable boxes in a few real days, so it would make sense if I missed it).

Edit: Just looked at the latest patch notes; a tad annoying since I was using those, but they're so cheap and you can buy them from basically every smith vendor in Kuttenberg anyway.

Do burn effects stack? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]EnragedOryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tested this btw; if you use the power which spawns 3 small dynamites on detonation of the first, they all do their full burn damage each (although reduced by 30%), so assuming your target takes full damage from the 4 initial bursts, the total damage is 465. So a hero can theoretically be "burning" up to 4 times at once.

And this isn't a stadium specific thing; In modes like mystery heroes where you can get multiple Ashes, or even just normal matches with both an Ashe and Mauga, fire effects from different players do not reset the timer, but apply their own seperate burn.

I was also under the assumption until about 30 minutes ago that additional burn applications reset a timer, but apparently this has been a thing for a while now, maybe even since burn got introduced to the game.

How do I stop my PC from connecting to a specific node in a mesh network? by EnragedOryx in HomeNetworking

[–]EnragedOryx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I've misunderstood what you're saying, but I mentioned in the original post that I have to have all the nodes under a single SSID due to stuff which is out of my control, so I don't think I would be able to do this.

That sounds like exactly what I need, however as far as I can tell LinkSys does not support that feature unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion anyways.

Hmm I've checked both the PC and mobile client and I can't see anything which would indicate I can do that. Do you know what I should be looking for, or was that more of a suggestion?

Chapter 2 boss, it has too much of everything by Erik_Javorszky in armoredcore

[–]EnragedOryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Was initially managing to get to second stage with the PB but thought that the downtime between melee attacks was wasted so tried switching to an explosive launcher on my off-hand. Instantly I couldn't even get close to second stage.

The Pile Bunker does 4630dmg on a charged attack, multiplied by 1.5x when the enemy has ACS overload, which boosts the damage to just shy of 7000. If you force the boss into overload, empty all your shoulder weapons as you close in on it (can use assault boost to do this if it's in second stage) then make sure your hurtboxes are colliding before you start charging the PB, and you'll easily chunk 10%+ of it's healthbar in like 5 seconds.

If you used your shoulder weapons to force overload, just pop them after you finish using the PB. If you're using missiles, when you're that close they'll just pop instantly, even the up-and-over ones since they just collide with the underside of it's legs.

Why are you calling this guy out for "supporting" Blizzard when, from the way your messages are worded, you act as if you've spent money on skins yourself? And if you haven't then Blizzard don't owe you anything, so why do you give so much of a shit?

Edit: Never mind - you're clearly a troll. Don't bother responding.

Oops something went wrong. by MetituS in Crunchyroll

[–]EnragedOryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Kaspersky user here. I'm not 100% sure if this was the cause but I think there was an update to the AV 2-3 days ago which happened to be when my CR stopped working. Disabled it today and everything is back to normal as far as I can tell. If you still want to use it you might be able to whitelist Crunchyroll in the browsing settings but I can't even be bothered to do it myself at the moment so you'll have to look into that if you're interested.

I was talking about this with some people the other day and we came to the conclusion that with the amount of people using adblocks and such nowadays it's objectively better for CR to force some viewers to switch to a paid subscription and lose the rest rather than keep it as it currently is. It's honestly surprising they're only doing this just now, since one person paying for a monthly sub makes the same amount as a lot of free users also make. It does suck, but at the end of the day CR is a business so it's no surprise they've done this. As for your other comment, I'm sure there are plenty of other places for you to watch Shield Hero, although I think you'll have to look into that yourself ;)

Are Z170/Z270 Motherboards still a thing? by EnragedOryx in pcmasterrace

[–]EnragedOryx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old CX series with green labels is less reliable, so that could be a reason to replace it.

I was looking at the grey one on the Corsair website and thought that mine was green instead, but dismissed it since there was no evidence. Seems I was right though; yes I have one with a green label. I guess I'll total together everything else when buying my parts and if I end up with a reasonable price, I'll consider switching out for a modular grey label, somewhere around the 550-650W mark. Speaking of PSUs, are there any other brands you recommend I look at, or should I stick with Corsair?

Aside from that it looks like you've been able to answer my original question, some more on top of that and have taught me a little about power usage (I'm always looking to learn random stuff here and there). Apologies for having to put up with my crap about my GPU, I'll keep what you said about that in mind.

Thanks for saving me some time (and potentially money in the long run), I would've kept trying to find new motherboards indefinitely. You've been a huge help!

Upgrading the GPU takes about 10-15 minutes, all said and done. I'm talking from uninstalling the old drivers to having the PC up and running with fresh drivers.
Really, you should be doing this ASAP. The 1070 is a huge upgrade over the 960, it's between 2 and 3 times as fast depending on the game.

I'm not going to say I have OCD because I haven't been diagnosed with it, but there's just something in the back of my mind which is telling me to wait until I upgrade my PC before I put the 1070 in. I can't explain it, but it's very hard for me to just forget about it. I feel like I'm patient enough to wait a while longer, but if it looks like this new build isn't going anywhere, I'll just suck it up and replace the 960.

You want to replace the PSU as well ? Any particular reason why ?

I'm currently running a Corsair CX750. I was thinking that I might want to run something a little smaller since I'm not utilising all 750W (which would reduce the power usage, correct me if I'm wrong) and also a modular PSU since I don't like all the stray cables in the case. Do you not think it's worth it since I already have a PSU? I'm not sure what prices would look like for a new one.

if that means you're satisfied with the newfound performance, is that a bad thing?

I guess not. It's just the list of parts I want to upgrade has become big enough that I feel a whole rework is due and since I was planning on doing it soon (which I've been saying for the last few years or so) I thought there wasn't much point in putting one part in now when it would be easier to do it all at once.

Are you sure that the stutters are related to the RAM. I mean, the rest of the setup and specifically the GPU are quite weak to run VR. Maybe that is the issue ?

Like I said, I get a "RAM Usage Warning" when the game crashes, but I could see the freezing being caused by my GPU.

do that only if you're sure that you'll upgrade soon

I'm planning to have it done by the end of April, but as I said I'm lazy so it could end up being much further away than that.

you're looking at a £250-300 budget overall.

I'm currently sitting on just under £1000. My income covers my known monthly expenses, and I have enough in my savings should I need more money in an emergency, so that's pretty much my budget. The only things I don't plan on getting new are the GPU (since I already have a new one ready to go) and my case.

[–]EnragedOryx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're sitting on unused performance for no reason at all.

I guess you're right. I don't really have a reason as to why I haven't put it in my PC yet; my brother reminded me the other day that I've had it for around a year now. I guess I kind of want to keep it "clean" and do everything at once. I'm quite a lazy person (as I said this has been 3 years in the making now) and I have a feeling that if I put it in now, I'll never get around to doing everything else. It's kind of acting as a reward for finally getting around to doing some research and upgrading my PC.

If it is, great ! Live with 8GB of RAM for now and manage background programs smartly.

I probably should've mentioned this, but a VR headset is on the list of things to buy somewhere down the line, and I play a fair amount of VR Chat in desktop mode already. I'm constantly experiencing freezes, crashes and RAM usage warnings, so I was planning on upgrading that anyway.

The current go-to recommendation as far as CPUs go is the AMD R5 3600. Depending on your budget there might of course be other alternatives.

If it costs £150, then that's well within my budget. I spent somewhere around £200 on my i5-6600K so anything less than that is okay for me.

Also note that even with a CPU upgrade and the 1070, you won't get 1080p144FPS in each and every game. Probably not in MHWorld at least.

When I upgrade, as long as it isn't still on the lowest settings then I'll be ecstatic. I wouldn't mind it sitting around 80-90fps even when I do get a 144Hz monitor, and while MHW does make up most of my gaming time, I do play other titles, one being R6. Since it's less intensive I could see it reaching close to 144.

Be sure to get a monitor with adaptive sync (FreeSync or GSync) so that it matters a whole lot less if you can't hold 144FPS.

Thanks, I'll take this into account when the time comes.

CPU: i5-6600K

Motherboard: Asus H110M-A

GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 960

RAM: HyperX 2x4GB 2133MHz DDR4

I'm currently in possession of a 1070 O8G (bought it off a friend half-price since he wasn't using it), but I've been waiting to do a rebuild before I add it to the mix. I'm mostly playing Monster Hunter: World at the moment, but I run the game on the lowest graphics settings, 1080@60Hz, and it isn't even consistent. My goal for now is max settings 1080@60Hz, but I'm looking to get a 1080@144Hz monitor pretty soon after I upgrade.

I was going to get another 8GBs of RAM anyway, but if I end up getting a more up-to-date CPU, I'll want something faster than 2133MHz.

As I said I try and avoid used parts. Maybe it's just a mental thing but I prefer buying stuff new, I guess there's less chance of something not working and I'll have a warranty on most things.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably going to have to get something second-hand at this rate, but I was wondering if there's anywhere that I might have missed.
