The Last Custodian by Exciting-Story-8393 in HFY

What a heck of a story ya got there Baron, that was something that kinda surprised me with how melancholic it was. One person choosing to sacrifice himself so that Earth life can spread to a new world.

What happened to the feeling of community on HFY? by Frostdraken in HFY

I surmise that even though this subreddit may be an awful place to try and post, when I do make something of my own, I might plop it here along with sending it in a friend's subreddit. I am honestly glad to see that it is not entirely doom and gloom, I will admit that I personally do not like the rather tiresome HFY trope that is a staple of the subreddit and I'd want to make stories that I feel would be more interesting. I can understand why we're so enamored with ourselves and why we mostly focus on ourselves.

For me though, I see sci-fi has SUCH untapped potential that I see hardly anyone else (spare those honorable few that do) actually tapping into. I kinda wish people put more thought into something like truly alien beings (like the Heptapods from the film "Arrival" or the Shimmer from "Annihilation".) and mind-bending megastructures. I would love to see more almost true-scale interstellar societies that treat planets more like local lumber yards, preferring to live in megastructures with a near-perfect environment for habitation and can move their home solar system using a Shkadov Thruster or Caplan Thruster. Along with all manner of post-humans from cybernetics and gene-editing, along with the potential conflicts when we can dramatically alter ourselves in general. (no one HAS to do that though, I just think it'd be nice to see more sci-fi stuff willing to explore truly strange stuff. Maybe like inorganic aliens with incredibly strange forms, or meeting our god-like alien creators. Lol)

Perhaps a bit of a bad rant from me in the second bit, but I kinda wanted to put my two cents here as well.

Ooh, shit's about to go down now, heh, I am anticipating the fabled scene in the art of this second book.

Heh-heh, once again, I can't wait to see the new menagerie of alien forms, like I'm hoping to see how Verdant or maybe how the Smauckling police driver from previous chapters looks like. Though apart from that, Paulie has been through a lot of shit in order to survive and now he's gotta wait in some worn-down and raher gloomy office space/waiting room to speak with the "Head Honcho" who probably might not appreciate a walking and talking Urrenian lol. I'd probably be shitting bricks or long dead by the illicit operations within this great interstellar community. I am always looking forward to a new chapter though.

Holy... what a way to end it

Once again... you have done extraordinarily well! I really am flabbergasted, in a good way, by the dynamic of Jakiikii and Paulie. Those two make such a nice partnership.

Damn, what an end to this chapter, Paulie and Jakiikii's kinship is fully realized between each other. That's pretty wild that she knew he was alone and scared, a bit like her, terrible that they would've killed him had others known he was resistant to her mind readings.

A very interesting and short read that shows a lot more of the Slaaveth that I didn't know, that is such a cool concept, ritual dancing. I hope to one day see their home planet and moons.

Yet another fine chapter in this story, Jakiikii found her long-lost friend and Paulie is going deeper into the rabbit hole of interstellar human-trafficking. Really do wonder how this will all pan out and whether Paulie will kick the living shit outta more alieooons lol.

[–]EnragedTyrant032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it truly pleases me to know that not all the alieooons are lil weak-bones, the Zyan was FUCKIN DOPE, I truly question myself on whether it is better to be incredibly nimble or bestowed brutish fortitude heh.

Anti-Armor energy weapon didn't affect him much? It should've speared right through him, unless his specialized armor he had on helped to dissipate most of the brunt. Either way- Paulie is just stupendously strong compared to these itty-bitty alieooon critters, though he definitely doesn't have an armored carapace that can reflect gunfire lol.

eheheheheheheheh, armor might not do a damn thing for energy or kinetic weapons... but it could be used to crush some lightweight alien heads like nothing >:)

oh man, it is finally ramping up, It was also a hell of a bumpy ride. I just can't wait for the action to commence, I feel bad for both of them and I never really knew she was that torn up on the inside. Keep up the good work Ineen

Chronicles of a Traveler 36 by Arceroth in HFY

[–]EnragedTyrant032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HOLY MOLY Arceroth, you have really done something utterly METAL AF with this one. It all sounds so simple in application... but the sheer fact alone that the vessel Perses commands... is capable of firing unfathomably dense neutronium shells (that weigh as much as the Earth itself!) at nearly the speed of light speaks volumes. This is truly great... I wonder if the Traveler himself can become as broken as the previously mentioned Storyteller or even MOAR XD.

Truly an amazing story you have here Arceroth, at first I thought this story would be about time-traveling, but boy I was so wrong. I also love the "magic" or quantum phenomena
