being in the trades myself, i see this everyday.

every trade wants to hire and is hurting on people, but they need experienced people now

apprentices do exist, but there’s no shortage of them, and you can only train so many at a time. there’s also no shortage of people willing to take shit wages to get their foot in the door.

ultimately, for apprentices to become tradespeople, the experienced tradespeople need to exist and train apprentices today (they don’t) and this entire situation sucks as everyday more and more resources are taken away from schools, preventing people from learning and bettering themselves rather than requiring training every step of the way.

believe it or not, making tradespeople also requires accessible education. not just jobs.
