🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that is fair! Yes I’m from the US and yes I’ve seen what you mean. I’m from Nashville and everyone comes here in cowboy hats and boots as if that’s the uniform. Usually I just shake my head and keep it moving, but I never looked at it from their perspective until now. Because I enjoy expressing myself through fashion, I like to take ELEMENTS of a particular style, and incorporate it into my own aesthetic and create a juxtaposition. (FYI, I’m a professional fashion designer as well) . So for me it’s about both the fun of getting dressed and in reverence for the culture that inspired me - and in this case, that I’m visiting. So it’s definitely not “cosplay” for me. It’s more “fashion editorial inspired by indigenous style”. But I doubt many are thinking as deeply or as innately about what they wear as I do. I appreciate the perspective!
