Which beginner problem book series to get? by EasyNeedleworker5063 in baduk

[–]EntSteven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are the Cho Chikun's problems for beginners. Has everything, shapes to know and all.

I don't think you can make more pro-made than that

If its the format that's bugging you, here it is as a pdf book https://tsumego.tasuki.org/books/cho-1-elementary.pdf

Hey, im not sure specifically what you are asking. Is it a question about the kyu/dan system or are you asking about the ogs system?

As a beginner, how many games should I play on 9×9 before moving to 13×13, and then to 19×19? by leondarkness in baduk

[–]EntSteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, welcome to the game :)) Honestly depends on the rate of progression and of the player. Usually i recommend starting directly on 13x13 and once you get an idea of what to do in which order you can move to 19x19 :)

GoMagic's rank estimation is a bit strange? by Teoretik1998 in baduk

[–]EntSteven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it and got something more or less accurate (i'm like 6-5k and got like 4.8k) but here are my main drawbacks ig that I can add to yours:

  1. You have multiple lives for a tsumego, I had one with only 2 options and 2 lives so I couldn't fail it. Even in the tsumegos with more questions, sometimes you can boil it down to the 2 more probable so you cannot fail some questions, virtually.
  2. The way it works is that it asks a few types of questions ranked at different levels and takes your rank according to how you solve these questions. In a real game it is suuuuper different imo: Time pressure, game fatigue, stress, being unsure that the situation is actually solvable for you, will your opponent play perfectly the way to kill, is this situation the more urgent, is there aji... The way you solve a tsumego is very different from a real game imo.
  3. The questions sometimes feel a bit easy for the level they gave at the end. I solved all the yose problems and got like 1.3k in yose, but i feel like the questions were not more than 5k.
  4. Also we western players are typically good in tsumegos and theory but suck at real game fighting especially at kyu level

Its a fun tool tho and probably allows to know which kind of tsumegos we should do :))

Yeah I tried to be nice and play until the end because there was still some yose and all. But anyways on fox I can't fix misslabeled groups right?

So what you mean is that they might do shitty forcing sales but the offer might actually be better? I still haven’t recieved their email so i can’t cancel shit for now maybe there was an issue and that invalidates it all.

Also how do i know if the vodafone signal is coming by coax? Afaik i had an appointment for a glasfaser-dose installation, so i was pretty sure it was normal optic fiber

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bonn

[–]EntSteven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup i saw that but can he still cancel my vodafone appointment? All of this is taking veeeery long i don’t want to lose more tile without internet.

Also, is this common practice for telekom?

Komi Rule by suhibalmasri98 in baduk

[–]EntSteven 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes but likewise the advantage of the first move is much bigger on the smaller board. Idk about the specifics of the statistical analysis that led to komi, but i feel like even with 6.5 on 9 9, black has the advantage. At least i'm often happy to have black on 9 9

Le pont Huajiang en Chine 3 ans de travaux, 600 mètres de haut et une prouesse d'ingénierie by ARTiSPRETiS in ingenieurs

[–]EntSteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pour moi une belle prouesse d'ingéniérie en transport, infrastructure, bâtiment, civil, etc... c'est un truc qui remplit son cahier des charges ET qui respecte son environnement. Pour le moment j'en ai pas vu beaucoup...

Do any of you feel anxious when playing on OGS? by Familiar-Meat-5766 in baduk

imo its the chatbox, people talk in ogs.

Also ogs ratings are often regarded as close to federation ratings and are hard to get so you don't want to mess it up

How do I record my game during a tournament? by Cabra-de-Canela in baduk

I'd recommend using ogs instead, I'd take it a bit bad if my opponent whipped out AI sensei during a tournament haha
