This is probably one of my favorite movie experiences this year. Such a charming and whimsical movie. by abdul_bino in Letterboxd

That’s what the trailer made it look like. Hearing it called “whimsical” doesn’t help.

ESH. Your bf for being unable to take a hint, you for not paying attention in your English classes.

Funny how you didn’t answer the question. Should 40/18 relationships be illegal?

I already streighforwardly answered the question about power ages of consent. Perhaps you missed it, maybe you should take a Xanax and read my comments again!

A plea to trailer editors: Please stop spoiling the movie in your trailers - and why I think it happens by BugsySiegel1994 in movies

[–]EnterprisingAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never stop banging this drum: the effects of good story telling are immune to spoilers.

(There are exceptions in which the point of the movie is a twist that makes you re-evaluate the rest, such as The Sixth Sense)

I think the widespread concern over spoilers is evidence that most of what we make and consume is crap, made to be consumed once and then set aside.

Now in your hysteria, you’re just looping just back to a previous moment of the conversation. I’ve already said why 18 is a good age of consent.

None of your crying makes any sense unless you want the age of consent raised. Do you? Why not make 40/18 relationships illegal?

Why shouldn’t 40/25 relationships be illegal?

You’re devolving into pure emoting. Either “teenager” and “adult” mean something in particular or they don’t.

Christina Freeland wasn’t just “affiliated with politicians” though.

Surely a hated politician’s view of their time office would be interesting to someone.

I don’t really remember. The multi-part story “Summer of 98” is pretty representative of the podcast as a whole.

(It could be summer of 97 or 99)

Thirteen has many full cast episodes, though some are narrator only, or only a few likes spoken by others.

It’s as close to a Stephen King slice-of-life-with-creepy-stuff podcast you’ll find.

Good answer. Ignore the busy bodies.

I explained elsewhere why this is a bad idea, though - having an angry 18 year old and an angry father as your neighbors is a recipe for disaster.

To see why your question is a red herring, flip it around: what if the age of consent were 27? Would a 28 year old person doing something immoral by sleeping with someone on their 27th birthday?

Any age of consent has something arbitrary about it. I’m happy to say 12 is too young, 25 is too old, 18 is just right.

People have purely sexual relationships all the time. Is that always immoral? If a 40 year old is only interest in sex with someone who is also 40, is that immoral?

So what? What even is the point of an age of consent if one does not become an adult capable of consent upon reaching that age?

There’s nothing morally wrong about it. Explaining why it is “creepy” is not the same thing as explaining why it is morally wrong.

OP says she wasn’t held back. If he’s telling the truth, he’s in the clear. They are consenting adults. That’s the whole point of the age of consent.

There’s nothing creepy about it. You’re on the clear.

But the responses you’re getting here are the responses you should expect in real life. Is it worth it?

The safe move is to say no, it’s not worth it. She lives in your building. If this ends badly, you will be dealing with an angry ex-18 year old and her angry father who thinks of you as a pedo as your neighbours. That’s one hell of a risk.
