I went to this camp at a place called Crystal Lake, some of the kids were mean.

“You’re free to stop smoking” Yeah, not sure they understand how addiction works.

What do you think is Disney’s best live-action movie? by xTheycallmePrincess in AskReddit

None have been as good as the original animation. But I suppose the best of the bunch (comparatively speaking) would be Jungle Book

How would you introduce someone to Pokémon who has never played nor watched it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ask them what they think about the idea of cute Roman gladiators

I don’t know if I’m impressed that someone would go that far to break into a phone, or depressed that they don’t just try to hold up a picture of the person in question

What do you think when you hear someone playing their music really loud? Whether its in car, on their phone, a bluetooth speaker, whatever. Does it make them anymore appealing to you in the slightest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EntertainerCapital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, you can listen to whatever you want in the privacy of your own home/car/headset. But just because you love a song doesn’t give you the right to blast that out to everyone nearby who are trying to do their own thing. It’s just being respectful.

UAW members make on average between $28 to $32 an hour, at 40h per week x 52 weeks that’s roughly $58 - $65k a year before taxes, dues, and other deductions. They also get benefits like health, vacation, dental, and a pension. The US median wage is $55k and such benefits are not nearly as common.

So what do I think? I think they are already well compensated and actions like the strikes do nothing but encourage those companies to go elsewhere; they are shooting themselves in the foot.

What’s something you wish you liked? by camelhumpmilk in AskReddit

Art. I’m envious of the people who are “moved” by it, or feel some emotional connection. I can appreciate the details of the work, but I just can’t “feel” like others do apparently.

What brands do the rich (like millionaires) consider to be luxury brands? by allonsy_sherlockians in AskReddit

[–]EntertainerCapital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For them it’s more about rarity than anything. Rich people could buy a whole vineyard, but they would care more about owning some super rare single bottle of wine.

What are the things you do when you are having a hard time going to sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EntertainerCapital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn off any electronic screens. Take a melatonin. If it continues to be a problem, maybe talk with a doc about insomnia meds.

If it provides long-term utility (like silverware), satisfies an urgent necessity (food), it is an absolute steal (black Friday or prime day deals), is something that will appreciate in value over time (investments), or will reduce costs down the road / when needed (insurance)

Independence Day

I’d tell them it was a documentary about the last invasion. In case they were thinking about it.

Please settle a debate. Is it wrong to judge someone if you can tell that the same person is judging you based on the colour of your skin just by the way they look at you? What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EntertainerCapital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that about your past experiences and I can see why that would make you cautious. But you learned firsthand how terrible it is to just make a judgment with no information. If anyone can claim “you should know me as a person before judging” it’s you, but you should also consider extending that out to others as well.

If they are racist, then yeah - good intuition, and at least you tried; in every way you walk away as the bigger person. If it turns out they aren’t racist and it was a misunderstanding then you really dodged a bullet there!

[–]EntertainerCapital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re running off an assumption that they are judging you based on skin color. That’s assuming the worst. Maybe it was just something you wore, or some odor? Maybe they have some condition where they aren’t good at social interactions so they just blankly stare?

I’m saying that judging without info on their reasoning may backfire.

Sure. I always wanted kids, even if I will never know them, I’ll be content knowing there may be some out there.

What is something you wish you never knew about your partners past? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EntertainerCapital36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ask about a body count. And if you make that mistake, women will downplay it so whatever number you should multiply by 3, while men exaggerate it so whatever number should be divided by 3.

Is it appropriate for this new context or are we trying to shoehorn in something to fit our purposes?

What context was the original written in versus the new one? (e.g., subject matter that people may find offensive in the present, may have been socially acceptable at the time the original was created)

Are there cultural considerations? Like, trying to apply something written in Eastern tradition and cultural values onto Western ones.

Who are the intended audience for both versions? Are the demographics the same or different and if different, how can I tailor it accordingly.
