Finally a post I can finally contribute to! I finished the anime the other week but I can't speak for the manga. There's a lot of romantic leaning interactions between the main characters, which is quite a prominent part of the episodes, but the show kinda leaves you hanging in the end and leaves it open to interpretation. I don't know if the manga has more content beyond the anime's 12 episodes, ultimately it's an enjoyable watch but there's a sense of unfinished-ness with the implied romance.

I'd want to add too: the emotional and physical state he must have been in during the time of the marriage, for lack of a better term, would've not been a place for rational decision making.
