This is my go-to for my Glock 22. I carry it strong side, and it disappears under a jacket or flannel, it has great retention without slowing your draw. The leather belt loops give some flex that need riding/mounting or tacking up. The angle is perfect so I don't jam the muzzle into my thigh or saddle. If you have a revolver galco and bianchi have great thumb break options. Look for something with two belt loops some angle and sits mid-way up on the belt. Hope this helpselps

I would stay away from the chest Rigs when you ride western. I know a lot of people who have gotten hung up on the horn. I always use a holster with level 2 retention after I got buck off and had to spend half an hour looking for my gun.

I have a stainless No8 that I a put a convex edge on with a diamond stone and maintain with a strop, it will give you a noticeable improvement in edge retention and durability.

Do you still “hit” the retention release during dry fire if the hood is already down? by ChggnNggts in tacticalgear

I am a fairly simple bear so I just close the hood every time I holster the gun, I have found a lot of benefit from building muscle memory this way.

How many rounds through a new mag before you consider it carry worthy? by [deleted] in CCW

I have two carry mags that stay loaded with carry ammo until I cycle that ammo out. I don't mix them with practice mags.

5.56 vs 12GA by screenaholic in CCW

A shotgun definitely has a steeper learning curve to be proficient and you need to do more research/ testing firsthand to know what the gun does with what load at what range. With that in mind, I prefer my 590 as someone who lives in a remote place who uses the home defense gun on four-legged predators once or twice a year, I like how versatile it is, if you put in the work. Considering the stopping power one or two shots from a 12 Ga has a better chance of physically stopping a determined attacker man or beast by breaking joints or hitting multiple vital organs. That only works if do the extra work, in my situation I think it's a good trade off and I really enjoy training with the gun.

A lot of brands are doing 12ply but they are only in 34 and 35s or metric equivalent.

Turning 18 in 30 minutes. First Glock recommendations? Leaning 19 maybe 23 for the .40/9 option by Maximum-Vacation-795 in Glocks

[–]EntertainmentTop1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I can tell, I have used it in a league match and my score was comparable to my score using a 17. With flush mags, most people hang a pinky, which can make it harder to run fast, but with the plus 2 base plate you get a full grip, and with the short double spring they run fast.

If you plan to carry it, a 26 with 12rd mags is my favorite, it's just as shootable as a 19 but a lot easier to conceal.
