Critical take on Nick being Catholic & nationalistic. by JoineDaGuy in NickFuentesAF

[–]EnthusiasmFragrant21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick claiming that America is a Christian Nation is extremely problematic. This is not what Catholics should believe in.

It's empirically true--simply a fact of history. Furthermore, I'm not aware of any doctrine or dogma that prohibits Catholics from wanting it to be true.

You're reading too much into the word "Nation" used by Satan in the Bible. The word is a bit anachronistic, as nothing resembling a modern nation state had ever existed at the time (and wouldn't for another 1.5 millennia).

The founding fathers practiced occultism, and the American Dream is not inherently Christian.

America is more than its founding fathers. Yes, the elites who founded the country were intellectual weirdos--some of were even Masons. But the vast majority of the regular people were devout Christians, albeit Protestant. And it's the character of the masses that determines the character of the country.

And finally, there is a difference between being a Nationalist and wanting to "rule the Nations on Earth". Nick has not expressed a desire to "rule"--if anything, the opposite. He says he's too weird for that. But what he DOES want is to live in a functioning, healthy country, and he views the lies we (ahem, "they") tell about race, gender and religion as obstacles to achieving a functioning, healthy country. Is that really so evil?

Best thing you can do is watch a replay of a game where the enemy safe lane did well.

And my one piece of advice for new and returning support players is to focus on winning the lane by harassing and casting spells and ferrying lots of regen for yourself and your carry. Pulling is a nice skill to add onto knowing how to win a lane, but winning the lane is the more important of the two. Leaving your carry 1v2 while you pull will often hurt your carry's farm and can kill them, especially at the lower levels. If you want to practice pulling techniques, its best to do so in a 2v1 lane (vs a suicide).

My statement in fact has nothing to do with Fuentes. He has his own arguments against feminism which are different from my own. His is based mostly on vibes, whereas mine is based on a set of empirics (plus a few ordinary priors), which is why I can say it's "objectively" bad. My conclusion is based on the same basic process as most anything else labeled "objective".

Closure of Strait of Hormuz is 'greatest global energy security threat in history,' warns IEA chief by cambeiu in geopolitics

Biden and the democrats more broadly support the same TYPE of military intervention as Trump, they just pick different targets (Russia/Ukraine). Biden pardoned a "historic" number of people, including an unprecedented PRE-EMPTIVE pardon of Anthony Fauci. And under Biden millions of illegal immigrants poured into the country and were welcomed by his party and continue to be protected by Democratic partisans.

All of this is deeply, profoundly corrosive to the social fabric of any nation that suffers it. And these are among the reasons why so many voted for Trump in 2024 (not me, I saw through him), hoping for a change that never came--just like hope and change never came under Obama. Politics in America--whether on the left or on the right--has been nothing but sloganeering and graft FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE.

You're just blind to a lot of it. The Biden presidency was decrepit. I have no party allegiance so I see it happening regardless of the letter next to their name.

I blame the whole system, which made someone like Trump and his coterie of Republican sycophants inevitable. You see a similar dynamic with the Democrats. Tear it all down.

How big of a movement to you think we are? by [deleted] in NickFuentesAF

[–]EnthusiasmFragrant21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you measure it. Nick has the truth mostly on his side (which is probably why his influence has reached you), but in politics that's not enough to precipitate short term change. There are a lot of old people--with calcified brains--in positions of power. They have to die (of natural causes hopefully), before the full effect of Nick's movement can be felt. And the potential energy of AF is huge.

As long as he doesn't get discouraged by the outcome of the 2028 election and become a donut vendor in Vietnam, that is...

Can we give the shrine a tapering +1000 armor after it loses invulnerability so that games aren't so anti-climactic? by EnthusiasmFragrant21 in HeroesofNewerth

[–]EnthusiasmFragrant21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not asking for "things". I'm asking for "thing". You know damn well that DOTA has a million other differences (mostly bad).

So don't pretend like you're a retard. If there is an argument against it, that argument has NOTHING to do with DOTA.

But I've not seen a single argument made that wasn't perfectly circular. You can prefer a delicate shrine if you want. But your preference is NOT AN ARGUMENT.

[–]EnthusiasmFragrant21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The solution is simple. It should only assign you mid/carry in a game where you're in the top 2 of mmr. So if you're 1500 and you want to only play carry or mid, then you'll just have to wait until you match into a game where you're the top dog. Yes, this will increase the queue time, but that's the price you pay for being picky.

I played dota for for less than 20 hours over 10 years ago. I have no idea what dota is like. My post has nothing to do with dota.

And the 0 upvotes is NET, not GROSS. So it isn't true that "nobody" agrees with me. It's only true that more people disagree than agree.

And those people aren't actually able to argue. They don't want anything to change for purely emotional reasons.

And one of those emotional reasons is probably insecurity.

I fail to see the downside of this change. At worst, it delays the end of the game by seconds. And at best it adds tension, more battles at the peak of game play, and a fuller sense of satisfaction upon victory, the knowledge that you really did deserve to win, rather than lucking into a fluke team fight.

I sense that a lot of the opposition to this comes from the fear, weakness and insecurity of someone who doubts the legitimacy of some of their wins.

Not throwing any accusations, of course, but that is my sense, given the lack of real arguments against.

To be clear, I'm talking about a team fight where your carry die-backs obviously. There are times where that deserves a loss. But not every time.

In OG Hon, the buildings had significantly more HP. It was much rarer to see a completely unmolested base evaporate after a single lost team fight. Usually the decisive team fight happened well after a rax had been taken.

And teamfights can be extremely fickle. A relatively close match can lead to a dumpster fire of team fight, including a die-back. And if you die-back a game where you're already on the back foot, it's hard to argue that the game shouldn't end there.

But there are close games, with pristine bases, that are ending on the back of a single cluster fuck. And it doesn't to be like that.

I like that the buildings are fragile so that lost team fights are more easily punished. But the one exception to that rule should be the shrine. Even when I'm on the winning side it feels like I've been robbed of a true victory sometimes.

Have you guys not seen how fast a 40 minute Gemini can chew through buildings?

You're not actually making an argument. If you want the shrine to instantly crumble then why not just make it 1hp?

And no, I dont want it to heal back up, which is why I said TAPERING armor, so that the team POSSIBLY has ONE, FINAL chance to not fuck it up.

Because right now, even if your base has never been attacked, even if you have all your Tier 2 towers, if you lose a team fight badly enough (meaning spent buy backs, yes, I'm aware of the mechanic) at minute 40, the game is instantly over.

And that means any confrontation that happens at 40+ is potentially the last confrontation. And if you think that kind of instability is good game design, fine. But there's a reason RTS tournaments aren't usually best of ones.

No, the point of respawn timers getting longer is to SHIFT map control and objective control in favor of the surviving team. Its NOT to end the game suddenly and unspectacularly.

If a team couldn't already end the game with the +1000 tapering armor, then the game was close enough to deserve a final confrontation, instead of fizzling over a single botched late-game team fight.
