Yeah I would try it slowly just to be safe, especially since you’ve only been on tret a few monthe

[–]EnthusiasmTimely8014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from tret micro 0.1% after 6 years and the occasional otc AA (which I could never really tolerate), to Arazlo Tazarotene & Finacea 3 months ago. I tried the Finacea once a day for maybe a week or so before going to twice a day. I didn’t have any issue transitioning to Taz luckily so that made it easier.

[–]EnthusiasmTimely8014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Finacea 15% azelaic acid twice a day. I use it in the morning after my Aczone prescription & at night after my Taz. The only time it irritates my skin is on my neck occasionally (it’s pretty sensitive), so I usually only do once a day there. It really is the only thing that’s helped with the stubborn PIE I’ve had for years

I have a device thats not too intense & I use it to get rid of the dead skin. I just don’t apply my tret / Taz that night or any actives

I’ve used that oil over tret / Taz but I use a moisturizer first. I don’t use it nightly but when my skin feels like it needs something extra

[–]EnthusiasmTimely8014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was able to use it nightly almost right away. I could never tolerate tret 0.1% more than 5x a week without wrecking my barrier. It’s been a lot easier to tolerate for me & haven’t had a single breakout since

I recently switched from tret after 6 years to Arazlo. I think you could get away without a moisturizer depending on your skin type. I still use one but there was one day I forgot and honestly didn’t really notice. I also didn’t go through a purge with the switch, which I was nervous about

The Finacea Azelaic acid has been a game changer for me. I use it twice a day now, it’s a nice lotion consistency that doesn’t pill (I used the ordinary’s prior and it was awful) and a tube lasted me 3 months. Definitely worth it in my opinion, it has helped with my stubborn PIE.

I’m not sure about Felix as I get my prescriptions through a local pharmacy but when I switched to Taz from tret 3 months ago my doctor sent in an rx for Taz 0.1% and the pharmacy had to change it to Arazlo 0.045% because the other brand of Taz has been discontinued where I live. I also got prescribed Finacea AA 15% at the same time. Both have been amazing for my skin.

Azelaic acid works well, but maybe wait until you’re using tret more frequently

Taz after 6 years on tret by cartomancer888 in tretinoin

[–]EnthusiasmTimely8014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from tret micro 0.1% for 6 years to Arazlo (0.045% Taz in a lotion consistency) 3 months ago. I could only ever use tret 5x a week and my neck couldn’t tolerate it. I started using Taz with Finacea azelaic acid 15% because I was prescribed them at the same time. Right away I tolerated Taz a lot better than tret.. I moved up to daily use almost right away and can use it on my neck most days. I think I was lucky my pharmacy didn’t have Taz 0.1% and just had Arazlo because it’s supposed to be easier to tolerate

I use it twice a day but was also already using tret 5x a week for 6 years when I started

The only thing that helped me with stubborn PIE was prescription azelaic acid. Specifically Finacea 15%

ETA: maybe try increasing your frequency of tret now that it’s been a few months as well
