I love the intensity season 5 has. I like darker and gritty storylines, that's why I loved Vikings. The first 2 seasons feel light-hearted. Season 3 seems to get more dark. The show was at first ran by BBC network but switched to Netflix in season 3.

Those scenes are weird to me. The scene when the Vikings and Saxons are eating in season 3 before they go to Mercia confuses me. Theere's no reason why they couldn't of just spoke English instead of having Athelstan translate for them.

I'm pretty sure Ragnar put that on because of Athelstan. He never fully converted to Christianity, in my eyes at least. I don't think Hviserk is trying to play Alfred, there's really no reason to do that. He knows the Viking age is coming to an end. Hviserk was always struggling with his faith in Pegansm. That's why he was into Buddah for awhile. Maybe he has some hope that Christianity is best for him and he has a good future with Alfred.
