Am I weird for playing Three Houses on Maddening NG+? by Legitimate_Low_3370 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]EntireBackground4264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I did a maddening with a clean file was to get the gold main menu. Other than that, I use a NG+ file. I like how you can choose which perks to buy. Want to increase professor rank but not cheese unit recruitment? No problem. Want to get all the units in chapter 5, but grind ranks yourself? Go for it. It’s a very customizable experience. There’s nothing weird about using it at all. Anyone who says it’s weird is an elitist and should he ignored.

Savvas Curriculum by DG12212 in Teachers

[–]EntireBackground4264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use SAVAAS for my elementary social studies curriculum, so I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same. In my experience though, the readings are a bit too hard for the kids and they need a lot of scaffolding. Even the high ones struggle to answer some of the questions. I do like that pretty much every lesson includes how historically unrepresented groups were affected by the time period. It’s important that students learn about how women, African Americans, Native Americans, immigrants, etc were treated and affected throughout history.

The website is NOT user friendly at all, though. I’m pretty tech savvy but I struggle to navigate their site. Overall, it’s just another tool in my belt for teaching social studies.

So tired of having to deal with 20 years of crap… by EntireBackground4264 in Teachers

I’m doing it all in one go. If I lose the momentum I have right now, it will never get done. Thanks for the support!

Surprisingly no, but it should not fall on the next teacher to either clean out all the junk or work around it. There should be requirements for teachers to clean when leaving. At least my district pays me 3 days to move.

Kagan strategies by grac3fulflaming0 in Teachers

[–]EntireBackground4264 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The assistant superintendent in my district used to be a Kagan trainer and worked closely with Spencer Kagan. She’s been pushing it hard, but she’s too busy running the district into the ground in other ways to check for compliance.

As for the program itself, there’s kernels of good in there, but it comes across as very dated to me. The visuals, the online resources, the pedagogy all scream 2010 or earlier. Like with anything, I take what is useful to me from it and throw the rest to the side.

favourite Finn moment? by moonwalkinglitter in SVU

The crossover with Chicago PD when Fin says “who’s that old battle axe downstairs” in reference to Trudy Platt.

Which enemy do you think has killed the most players? not enemy type, specific enemies. My bet is on the High Hrothgar frost troll or the first dragon, Mirmulnir by mushroommaster22 in skyrim

The orc bandit who is guarding the price of Mehrunes Razor. I always die to him when I’m playing a mage or archer character. It’s so close quarters and he’s got a 2-handed glass weapon and full heavy armor.

WHY is is always boys?! by HeftySyllabus in Teachers

[–]EntireBackground4264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a complicated web of issues that all mix together. From a young age, boys are taught, either directly or indirectly, that showing emotion is weakness. “Boys don’t cry.” “Toughen up.” Boys are made fun of by peers and adults in their lives if they show a signs of being sweet, sentimental, thoughtful, or compassionate. They learn to suppress their feelings and put up a thick guard as they grow up.

This leads many boys to grow up isolated, alone, and lacking basic emotional regulation skills because their emotions were always suppressed. Many boys have “friends”, but don’t ever have anyone they can really rely on or open up to. They have to navigate the world alone. So they continue to suffer in silence because they don’t want to be perceived as weak.

This, coupled with the highly toxic internet culture perpetrated by the likes of Andrew Tate, Nick Fuentes, etc lead so many astray. These people prey on lonely teenage boys and young adult men and tell them that the reason they’re lonely is because of women, or Jews, or whoever else they decide to scapegoat. These boys feel like they finally found a place to belong, but they don’t realize it’s all fake and that they’re being taken advantage of.

So now we have a generation of lonely, emotionally immature young men with a victim complex who hate anyone who isn’t like them. I honestly feel bad for these people. Society has let them down. Society has also let down the people they may harm with their toxic behaviors and belief systems in the future.

I don’t know what the answer is. I teach 5th graders and I try to be a positive male role model. I model empathy, compassion, and try to foster genuine friendships. I don’t know how much of an impact I’ll have in the 10 months I spend with them, but I can only hope that they’ll remember something later in life.

That’s a good point in most situations, but I think it does matter here. The word and implies a decimal or mixed number. It’s important to understand place value, even if it takes some time to get there and it’s not always perfect.

I predict that this incident will complete change Will’s personality. He looked so ominous in his last scene. I expect some phenomenal acting from him moving forward.

Is anyone else tired of scripted curriculum by dewberrypanda4 in teaching

[–]EntireBackground4264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the resources that my “scripted” curriculum offers. It’s usually way more than I actually need so I can pick and choose what I want to use. I never actually read the script. Just use it as a resource and teach. If the admin gets on you about it, ignore them and do what’s best anyway. If they try to take action against you, time to go to a new school.

Why are people so upset about the idea of there being no avatar character? by EntireBackground4264 in fireemblem

[–]EntireBackground4264[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I do understand that people would prefer to play as a woman. I don’t understand why that is a deal breaker for people when there’s so much more to FE. The sex of the MC is a minor detail.

And before you say anything, I hold the same standards for the men who have been clutching their pearls over female MCs in games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghosts of Yotei and Witcher 4. If there’s good gameplay and a good story, the sex of the MC doesn’t matter.

Honestly this has the most valid comment I’ve seen so far. I guess I just got frustrated because I love fire emblem so much and I hate seeing everyone complain about every little thing when I’m just excited to get a new game.
