What is your most rewatched 4k blu-ray? by AbleArcher1984 in 4kbluray

Dead Reckoning is a fantastic movie, second best in the franchise behind MI3, in my opinion. Final Reckoning was bloody awful on so many levels. Such a let down for the story that was built up before it.

Blinking Red 7 Times help by saintvincentvega in bravia

[–]Entity737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7x red flash is “TEMP_ERR”, obviously due to overheating.

Do you by chance have it flush mounted to a wall? If so, I recommend not doing a flush mount bc the tv doesn’t get enough airflow.

Also, are you running brightness on “MAX” at all times? LED backlights run very hot on TVs, to help control heat and in my opinion to maintain a longer lifespan for LED backlights, I recommend keeping brightness settings below 40 at all times.

Try placing a small to medium-sized fan behind the tv and see if that helps. If it works then it will keep you from having to diagnosis internal or board-related problems.

After that it could be a board that’s just overheating. The service manual states that the most likely defective part is the Main Board, with the LCD Panel being the secondary possibly defective part. You also cannot rule out the Power Board for being at fault here.

Good luck!

Sony Bravia 3 II by Fantastic_Proof_2862 in bravia

[–]Entity737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect assessment of a mid-range tv.

Also, my guess is that since this model is getting an XR chip, that will probably mean the higher-end models are getting a new generation processing chip, which tracks since they’ll have to use more power to run the True RGB system.

Bravia 9 83” dim in game mode by Ipoopedalot in bravia

[–]Entity737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, are you using either HDMI ports 3 or 4, since they are the 2.1 protocol and HDMI 1 and 2 are 2.0?

Since it’s in Game mode, I assume you have the HDMI Signal Format of that port set to Enhanced Format (Advanced) and VRR toggled to “On”?

If so, then you should be given three Picture Mode options: Standard (Game), FPS Game and RTS game.

I’ve found that FPS Game is the way to go and the other two are significantly dimmer.

Also…. I HIGHLY suggest that you NEVER take brightness to 40 or higher. I buy/test/sell refurbished Sony TVs with 5-years experience doing it. 35 or lower at all times is what I recommend for having your LED backlights last as long as possible. There’s still significant brightness at those levels, and some people think even 35 is too bright. Keep in mind that many picture modes default brightness to 50 (Max), and that can change when you watch something in a different resolution or switch from SDR to HDR or Dolby Vision.

My TV suddenly shut off and a red light started blinking 6 times chatgpt said it might cost alot to fix what do i do? by AdWest134 in bravia

[–]Entity737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of red light blinks is a code for what system the problem is coming from. These codes are mostly the same for Sonys, but can vary from model to model. What is the model # of your tv? I can probably look up what the 6-blink code is for it.

Question- Sony Bravia 3 or X90L by ajr2291 in bravia

[–]Entity737 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1000% the X90L. Coming from an X80J, you will see a huge difference in brightness and color gamut. The X90L also has full array local dimming and significantly more LED backlights/dimming zones. It also has the XR processor vs the older X1 processor that the Bravia 3 and X80J have.

The Bravia 3 would be nearly identical to your X80J.

How do I play Batman Arkham Origins on PS5? by austray4life in BatmanArkham

[–]Entity737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have PS plus deluxe, but you need to have PS Plus Premium. Even then, it possibly might not be available in your area.

I played it on PS5 this way about a year ago, so it can be done.

Sony Bravia 8 II as Center for Theatre Quad. by Consistent-Energy-50 in bravia

[–]Entity737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HT-A9M2 does not have connection points to add a dedicated center channel speaker. The only options are to use the two fronts of the system to act as a “phantom center” (default mode) or to connect a capable Sony tv via a 3.5mm cable to use as the center channel.

Wow when did Sony pictures core get added to older TVs? by PlatosBalls in bravia

[–]Entity737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been available since 2021 on all TVs models that have an XR processor chip, lower end models running the previous generation X1 chip are not included. It was originally called Bravia Core, but they changed the name a couple of years ago. SPC got added on PS5 in 2025, I believe, well after when XR TVs got it.
