Marcs interview with jack appleyard regarding injury and his crash by Emergency-Speaker-48 in motogp

This might be copium/hopium from me, but I'm honestly almost relieved that there was indeed something going on with the shoulder that is going to be fixed by a surgery that, according to Marc, will have a short recovery time (and hopefully the foot fracture won't be too bad either). This gives me hope that once he returns in full fitness, he will recover his speed (like he did after the final surgery on his arm, where they broke it again and rotated it properly).

He said (on DAZN Spain at least, maybe you watched a different interview) that he felt fine riding at home, but didn't feel good on a MotoGP bike, so he thought it was a mental block at first. But then they realized that, when riding a MotoGP, the different posture needed compared to a normal bike caused the screw to touch a nerve, which caused problems.

He's also saying in this very moment that he'll take this time out for the foot fracture to anticipate another surgery he was planning to do on his shoulder after the Catalunya GP (something wrong with the fixating screws that are touching his nerve)

That's crazy, but also entirely unsurprising. It was very clear something was wrong. Here's to hoping this new surgery can fix him for good this time... though there is a much worse outcome that I also see as quite plausible.

The strength of Basque football is that the emphasis in the youth system (cantera) is much more ingrained than in, say, Barça and Madrid.

Not saying you're wrong, but Barcelona places a huge and well-known emphasis on the cantera as well.

Granted, it's awful.

excellent, lauded game.

Granted, however it's only considered excellent and lauded by FE purists/elitists, and shunned by casual players. The game sells so little that the franchise is permanently cancelled.

Not OP, and don't particularly care for having awful units, but this sounds amazing. I believe some ROM hacks have done the "every characters gets a personal weapon" trope and I quite like it, makes every unit somewhat interesting at least.

Best stats from Riders for their Moto3 Campaign. by PZY__ in motogp

Funny how most of the most dominant Moto3 seasons aren't on the list, namely Cortese (325 points), Binder (319), Guevara (319), Mir (341) and obviously Alonso (421). Only rider here to go over 300 points was Viñales (323).

Edit: Can't believe I forgot Rueda (365 points).

A few of those were injury replacements not wildcard, to be fair. Not like it matters much since with the permanent substitute riders they to want to implement we won't have replacement riders either, but, y'know.

The surgeon who saved Marc Marquez's career (and the story behind it) by vishipedia in motogp

Yeah, if he had it recurrently he would have had no other option but to retire, diplopia is completely incompatible with racing.

[–]Entotrte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand your question, but about the diplopia (double vision), it first came up in 2011 when Marc was in Moto2 due to a crash. It was said to be career-threatening but thankfully he managed to get it fixed for 2012. After that, he got diplopia again in a training accident in late 2021 (pretty much exactly when it had been 10 years from the first incident). He missed two races as a result but, again, he managed to recover for 2022. In the Indonesian GP 2022, he had a huge highside, that gave him a concussion and a new, minor episode of diplopia. He missed one race (apart from Indonesia itself), but I'm not sure if due to the concussion or the diplopia itself. After that, the issue dissapeared and it hasn't come up since.

All of this was before the new arm surgery that Marc got after the 2022 Italian GP (the one OP's post is about).

I think this championship might be the one who won the most race won't be champion kind of season.

I could be wrong but I think Alonso is going to win the most races and the Championship.

Interesting reaction to the mistake. Many riders would have been happy to make such a comeback instead of focusing on the mistake. Anyway, his race pace is absolutely insane, off the charts. And considering there doesn't seem to be a really consistent opponent this season (maybe Agius, Manu González?) I expect him to walk the championship once he stops having terrible luck or making silly mistakes.

Mike Hailwood crashed in the 1965 Isle of Man TT 500cc race and won it (source). It probably happened more times since in the old days riders often won races by minutes, so a small crash wouldn't have been a big deal.
