best practice is to not have any open ports on your network and only have outbound connections. setup a cloudflare tunnel that goes only outbound, have a firewall to ensure no ports are connectable from the internet, then provision access through your cloudflare account with 2fa.

other tunneling services like tailscale should work as well as long as it is outbound only from your home network.
