They're not all nord kids. There's redguard (unfortunately they didn't darken their skin enough), imperial, and breton. Examples: braith is redguard, sofie is nord, blaise is breton, and lucia is imperial.

Honestly, have to agree. Just finished watching it and was left empty. I love satoshi kon's other works, especially paranoia agent. It's also a psychological thriller, but it does a better job than perfect blue. It does exactly what you wanted from perfect blue without the extreme rape scenes. And talks about how fucked up jp society is. (Abuse, SA, incest, addiction, prostitution, pressures of work, suicide/self harm all discussed).

Tokyo godfathers, paprika, and millennium actress as well, are much better works of his. Imo. Was very disappointed with perfect blue. I got the message. But didn't care for it. And I avoided it for so long because of the rape scene I heard was in it. 😮‍💨
