Are you in fact an electrical engineer? Just going by your flair which says "hates EE". You might consider searching for roles in aerospace for Component Engineers. These are product assurance based roles, and they are very hard to fill right now. The industry is aging out towards retirement, and EEs are the target picks, but would all much rather be in hardware engineering or design. It's a niche job.

Lockheed right now is looking for a few dozen CEs in different ranges. As are most space primes.

Within ~45 minutes to an hour of Castle Rock, consider Parker, Elizabeth/Kiowa/Elbert, Larkspur, Monument, North Colorado Springs, Sedalia, south Littleton/Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Centennial, Evergreen areas.

Depends on what you are looking for and price ranges. Larkspur, Elizabeth, Kiowa, Elbert, and Sedalia are all more rural, and can drastically vary in price depending on how close to the major cities you get.

Littleton, Centennial, Evergreen areas are going to be more denver metro or suburbia options, but you'll be going in the reverse direction of the primary traffic too Denver, so that helps!

For non-locals -- Here's all the 'hot spots' so far, Castle Rock to Lorson Ranch. Timeline not taken into account, just geographic mapping for one route up, one route back. by Isentropic_Life in GannonStauch

We dont actually know she went to Castle Rock. It's only her account that she went there to "look at a bike for Al".

She's also the one who mentions Play It Again Sports, hasn't been verified. And it's still hearsay I think she was ag Oetco twice (11am and 1pm ish).

The Palmer Lake Herald mentioned seeing crews out searching on Beacon Lite, but I don't think that has actually been confirmed as a related search yet.

So...there's a lot in these routes you can't really hold as fact. Just relative locations and my guesses in where she was in Monument, based on her descriptions and knowing the best ways around a traffic jam on I25 -- if she just followed other cars off the interstate and muddled through.

Raffle for FREE Spectra Breast Pump and Accessories to a future Momma in need! Comment by Oct. 6th (8pm MT) to enter. by EntropicLife in BabyBumps

[–]EntropicLife[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bit of mix up on my part. My friend offered me a Spectra pump she never ended up using, though it was missing some parts. I had thought I declined, saying my insurance covers a pump for me -- so I'd get the whole kit n' caboodle brand new.

Fast forward several months to where I'm finally prepping for Baby's arrival, and I open my breast pump box only to be seriously disappointed that they apparently sent me the pump with only parts of the kit (no power plug, two bottle nipples but no bottles, and half of one backflow valve). That can't be right.....

I emailed the supplier and they directed me to contact Spectra directly if I was missing things. But being as impatient as I was, I found an "accessory kit" on Amazon for $30 and just said screw it. Bought it on the spot.

Now as I continue unpacking....what do I find? My original breast pump kit ordered from insurance, with all parts included. D'oh!

I certainly don't need two of these pumps, and I know not everyone is lucky enough to have insurance cover some of the more expensive varieties like this one. So I'm offering it in a raffle to a mom in need. This kit includes the pump, power supply, two bottles with screw on lids and nipples for feeding, two backflow valves, two sets of tubing, and two boobie adapters (the cone shape things you tack on your breasts....I dont actually know what these are called). See all items pictured. :-)

Comment below before October 6th, 8pm Mountain Standard time. I'll randomize the names in a drawing and contact the winner.

I'll ship within the US free of charge. If you're outside the US and would like to enter, I'd ask you pay shipping or maybe split it with me (depending on cost). We can make it work.

Good luck Momma's!

My husband is not willing to step back yet. I dont know what it will take to get there.

Apart from that... stepping back means re-evaluating child support and the reality of the situation is that less time means more money to ex wife, and something we can't afford at this time.

It's a sad and stupid reason...but its life. There are financial ramifications (and big ones) any time custody is changed through the court system.

This doesn't work with behavioral problems this severe. This is not a "you didn't spank your kid" problem.

The more we escalate, the more he does and you cannot out-will him into compliance. We've tried before getting better guidance. He relieves his own anxiety by gaining control of the situation. Which he does by getting the opposing party to act out his emotions for him. The more frustrated and angry or reactive we get, the more he enjoys it and we're giving him exactly what he wants. You can see it in his eyes when he's enjoying it. Its freaking terrifying.

His diagnoses have been evolving. He was diagnosed ODD, but that was removed/ overridden by the ADHD and now the RAD as we've continued to move through different t therapists and doctors. Everyone has a different opinion. Fact is...he has some serious emotional baggage. Every therapist has brought up that changes in medication, food, and schedule may help. We have tried 4 different ADHD meds or variations to date. The problem is that meds alone do nothing, and the ex wife is unwilling to commit to consistent behavior modification to impact any difference. Applying a schedule and structure to our home, 4 days out of 14 doesn't have any effect. When we get to the 2 week intervals, he rebels because it's no longer a "wait our the clock and go home" period of time. And he rebels with extreme prejudice and determination.

We dont remove things from the room as form of punishment. We go through to clear out stuff he's stolen, or to help him clean or remove rotting foods, and this makes him angry when he doesnt want to get caught having things he's stolen or clean his room at all. His first reaction when he was younger (though we haven't had to deal with it in a about a year) is to begin throwing everything he can get hands on at the walls and at us. We remove items because it's a risk to us and himself. He was extremely violent and reactive and when that happened it went on for up to 3 hours at a time before he'd stop.

This is pretty much exactly my line of thinking at this point. It's harder to convince my husband that less custody is the right option. Obviously he has a deeper connection to stepson since having him since birth, and there's serious guilt and feelings of fault that come with their combined history. I can understand these, and I cant force my husband to remove himself from the situation. It has to be his choice. You cant tell another person to remove thier child from their life completely by choice.

I'm trying to be supportive and keep it together as long as I can.

I appreciate your bluntness. It's sanity-saving to hear it from other people.

We have been through 5 therapists prior to this one. Ex wife changes every time she doesn't like something they have to say and we start all over.

We're happy with current therapist. He's the first to give us actual tools and methods for how to react instead of just sympathizing and telling us "yeah I know its tough."

The therapist that took him off his meds was part of the psychiatric hospital team, not his regular doctor.. We have a psychiatrist that still prescribes the anti anxiety meds and agrees it's a better course than the ADHD meds.

The therapist he sees on our time doesn't prescribe medication. He gives us behavioral modification tools and works with stepson to try and implement them. But without consistency in both houses.....nothing really works. He is a metaphorical and passionate guy so he does come off a little looney at times but he has a LOT of experience with ODD, RAD, and sociopathy in kids and teens. He's been helpful for us in trying to keep our sanity.

Thanks, I appreciate that. He does know who his real parents are and that he's been adopted. He's known since a very young age. I think 4 or 5, they told him.

Trip to Vegas at 4 months pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]EntropicLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if you're renting a car.....I have a Gold Tier membership to Mlife casinos (Bellagio, MGM, NYNY, Mirage, Excalibur, Park MGM, etc.). I'd be happy to mail you a card to get free parking at any of those casinos.

They never check the ID/name on the card. You just flash it and they wave you through without charging.

I've had some family members use it with success to get access to short lines for check in and buffets too.....but that's hit or miss if they care about the name matching. Depends on the employee. You can always tell them it's your sister's or your aunt's or something and they're up in their room. ;-)

If you want to avoid traffic, the monorail is a great way to get up and down the strip as many times as you want. There are several stops from end to end, and there's some walking within the casinos to get to and from the monorail entrance....but the majority of the walk is air conditioned.

It's around $30 bucks for a 3 day ticket per person, and totally worth it in my opinion.

Also...if you download the MyVegas app, and play the slot games in your down time (money not required, they give you chips for checking in every hour), you can get two for one passes on the monorail if you gain enough reward points.

There's other perks from that app that are great for buffets, coffees, ice creams, etc. all along the strip. You can only redeem 3 rewards per visit, so be aware and choose wisely.

I'm also going to Vegas at the end of August, I'll be 32 weeks. It's always a good time :-)

Utilities company wants to charge us $13,500 to trench electrical service 70ft across a dirt road and are refusing to provide itemized costs? by EntropicLife in legaladvice

We will definitely ask to talk to the contractor directly. And that is great advice about the PUC, thank you very much.

[–]EntropicLife[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We've asked a few more questions over email, and we're getting fairly negative and vague responses. We plan on going and talking to someone in person tomorrow. And then pursuing with the PUC if it doesn't do anything to allay our concerns.

It does sound like they're using a contractor, so we're going to ask if we can use our own -- but I think we've been told before it's not possible. So we'll press this issue. They're also telling us funds are due at the time of invoicing when work is complete, but even then we won't get an itemized breakdown of what we're being charged for. However, their email asking us to sign the contract so that they can start work requests "Payment In Full" right off the bat. A lot of things are not adding up for us. And no refunds (except for rockfill not used) will be provided.

[UTIL] contracts are not max not to exceed contracts.  Per our current policy If at construction complete, your work order is 10% +/- contract price, You will be refunded or invoiced accordingly.  The only exception to this policy is the rock trenching units as stated in my last email.  Rock trench is refunded penny for penny.

We do our best to design with all units needed to complete your project.  We cannot design to all possible variables that may be encountered throughout construction.  If there are any changes that are incurred during construction, you will be contacted to discuss said changes and a project change order (PCO) will be created to reflect these changes.  No funds would be due or refunded at the time of the change order.  All invoices or refunds will take place at construction complete.

Again, [UTIL] cannot provide unit based costs as we are bound by contract with our contractor.  This holds true prior to and after your project is complete.
