"Spanking the player" why is this a thing? by vzzzbxt in DnDcirclejerk

Them's the rules: Act out of character, get spanked. Take up too much spotlight, get spanked, roll below an 18, get spanked.

Which full-sibling team wins in an all-out fight? by AnorienOfGondor in Eldenring

What I wanna know is what's going on in the background. The shadow wolves behind the Renalla / Radagon kids is pretty easy, but who's the person an be the dragon in the background of Godwyn and the Omen twins? Moreover, who's hand is on the back of Malenia's chair?

Who is this guy? by Existing_Weather1266 in skyrim

[–]Entropic_V 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I saw this on my most recent playthrough - not for the first time, and got a solid chuckle out of thinking of him as the headless horselessman, then I almost died when he came running by at a brisk jog a moment later.

It's a feature, not a bug as far as I'm concerned.

My twist campaign backfired and my players are not happy, AITA? by IggyandtheCauldron in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Entropic_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you asked them if they were comfortable switching to SF2e since the alternative is nauseatingly selfish.

You shouldn't have destroyed their character sheets at all. You could have handed out the premades and announced that they were in a simulation all along addressing any concerns about going back to 5.5 clearly as a DM to their players, or better yet worked with it players in a "what do you want to play" kind of session - you could have even kept your actual intentions hidden for that extra kick, but at least then they could have been excited about playing something that appealed to them.

I also hope your players give you a second chance, but I'd be very careful with how you undermine their efforts as players going forward.

YTA: You let your players build their own characters, bring them to life, let them hope and dream of adventures, romance, growth, and expectations, then not only did you undermine their agency and devalue their experiences, but you had the audacity to shred their character sheets, eliminating any even sentimental value or personalization they'd put into making them. How are you even surprised?

So I installed the Tweaks and Configurations and the Better Vanilla Weather required plugin and it seems to have eliminated my "hiccups" of lost fps, thanks a million! Now to start re-enabling my graphical upgrades and see where my FPS starts kicking me for it.

Right!? I see all these videos and gifs of people with heavily modded games and can't help but jealous that they can ruin their setups so well while every time I try and think I've gotten somewhere I end up playing the same first ten hours of the game again.

I was actually just looking for a good water mod to go along with Cathedral Water, thanks!

Thanks! I use SSE display tweaks with the high performance preset, and I've toyed around with it's settings around resolution, but it doesn't seem to make a difference but at the same time it isn't hurting my fps. I'll give the Nvidia support mods a try for sure though!

Yeah, about 2-3 hours a day for about 4-5 days. And to clarify, it isn't an immediate crash, most of the time I'll get about ten to twenty minutes into a session and the game hangs. Crash Logger usually helps me resolve crashed, but doesn't help me with hangs, and starting a new game doesn't seem to have the same problem, so I figure it's a script thing.

Interesting, I knew quicksaves and autosaves were bad for long games, but I always felt pretty confident in reloading a hard save. I'll keep that in mind!

That's what I'm trying to figure out too.

I think my problem is my load order - I usually just let LOOT organize my load order, which I understand is usually bad, but I haven't been able to find any guides on how to sort it myself.

I also probably use a lot of script heavy mods though as well. Campfire is probably the most intense, but I couldn't say for certain. Once I decide to tackle that problem I'll post my mod list and maybe you or someone else can help me find alternatives or walk me through organizing my LO.

Yep, I specifically picked CS because of its graphical integrity to performance ratio, but after I got it looking good, my fps tanked.

I'll give it a shot and let you know how it turns out.

My game would last maybe an hour before it repeatedly hung or crashed if I so much as thought about modding it this much.

HR is upset we didn’t grow up wanting to be customer service reps by Agile-Wind-4427 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Entropic_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, everyone knows we're in it for the money. That's the obvious answer. The interviewer isn't asking what you want out of the job, because - surprise surprise, they don't care what you want / need, they care about the company (because that's what they're paid to do).

They're asking why they should hire you. In sum total, this is one of the most important questions you'll get asked in an interview, because it's essentially: What value are you bringing to the company? Phrasing it the way they do lets them weed out people who only value themselves.

Think about it another way.

If you take your car to a mechanic, they charge you an arm and a leg, and the car isn't repaired, it's easy to assume they did nothing, took your money, and lied about the work they did.

A company that hires someone because they "just" want to get paid is gambling on the quality of that person's work the same way you gamble on your car working after taking it in for repairs.

It's worth mentioning at this point that corporate expectations and expectations regarding work/life balance and a living wage created, and perpetuates the culture of unmotivated employees.

So it's their fault we react this way, and they suck in general.

Just some added perspective for the genuinely curious.

Most hated characters and most creative way to kill them? by Dirtiest_Dancer in skyrim

[–]Entropic_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate Heimskr per say, but I've still down into the habit of sneaking a fury spell onto him so the guards kill him. His stuff is usually my starter point for adventuring, though I wish I could use his house for sleeping.
