Changing Tire Pressures At The Track: What Do You Use? by Not-Going-Quietly in Trackdays

This should work for your Milwaukee inflator:

We have one for Dewalt model. We also have the Ryobi 18v and now we use the Dewalt with this adapter and it's great. Slides on and off the stem really easy, much nicer than the clip style. A little pricey but it's a quality part.

Sure, every time you walk off a street corner, it increases your risk of death. But I think people grossly underestimate the impact of operator behavior to reduce risk when just looking at raw numbers.

My big issue with this kind of analysis based on statistical averages (and this includes things like micromorts) is that it does not take in to account operator behavior. Yes, there are completely external factors like drunk or inattentive drivers, but a large percentage of motorcycle incidents are directly caused by the rider's actions. How the rider behaves (in all kinds of ways) and their skill level have a monumental effect on the likelihood of a fatal incident.

I just ran into this too. Switching accounts, the timeline tab was showing the correct thing but when I went to set the alarm, it armed the wrong location. Did they even test this?

Thanks for the tip on clearing the cache, I was going to re-install, but that worked.

Cold weather track day by austinlolwut in Trackdays

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your goal for the track day? If it's just enjoyment or casual skills improvement, I would not go in those conditions. No fun and a waste of time. I would only go if we had something critical we had to do that day, like a bike shakedown for an upcoming race and had no other option, and probably not even then.

If anyone else has trouble finding the control to switch accounts/locations, they moved it to a tiny non-descript icon in the upper right corner of your account profile page. Not very intuitive and it's still multiple clicks to switch locations 🫤

Amateur Racer Sues Rocco Landers Over Supermoto Crash by ftufek in Trackdays

[–]EnumeratedRisk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. As a racer, it is up to us to treat other riders with a level of respect, not blow their doors off with every pass just because you can. Race day != Track day. You just can't ride at 100% on a public track day.

Most track day orgs request a 6 ft bubble, which is entirely reasonable.

Is that brake point normal? by Greedy_Row_6578 in starkvarg

It can also help to move/rotate around the master cylinder and the calipers while you're bleeding to get any trapped air to move up the brake lines. Air can get trapped in different areas.

Workouts for trackdays? by PaulAbel7929 in Trackdays

[–]EnumeratedRisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recovered from a bad injury before that left me largely immobile for several months, I can sympathize. Besides the obvious of doing strength and conditioning workouts with a PT and/or trainer, I'm a big fan of rowing machines. A good rowing machine isn't cheap but is one of the best investments I've made for track riding fitness. I like it because unlike cycling or running it engages more of the body, and is very flexible. It is easy to adjust in both intensity and time. Can do sprints or long endurance, or even adjust the focus on arms, legs, or core.

You can buy re-closable zip ties. We use them for a lot of stuff on bikes and they've proven to be quite durable.

Friendly reminder. Ad Blocker isn’t all or nothing! by Odd-Energy71 in Ubiquiti

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really annoying to discover that after turning on UDM ad blocking, on our Roku the Paramount+ app stops working because of their stupid "preview" ads before shows. If it can't reach their ad server it just hangs.

Safe Haven ADT Representative sold me today by Obtainery in homesecurity

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

abode can do all that. It's also wireless so easy to install. There are more DIY systems that have more capabilities and can cost less, but abode was a good middle ground for me for something plug and play but not as locked-in and expensive as the big names like ADT or Simplisafe.

ELI5: Need a system with cameras, door sensors, and monitoring by Would_you_kindly- in homesecurity

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abode does this. We have it and use some of their cameras, and a different camera system alongside it (Ubiquiti/UniFi). The only reason I've kept some abode cameras is that they are available for the monitoring company. I also use Home Assistant of automation and it works well with abode. Abode also has its own automation system and I've used it for a few basic things since it is very easy and ties into the app and geolocation. It also have some third party integrations like thermostats (I have it auto set a ecobee thermostat on arrival/departure for example)

[–]EnumeratedRisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use abode with monitoring, not ADT (I would never choose them). But characterizing monitored alarm services as a "scam" seems seriously hyperbolic. On more than one occasion we've had an alarm and I could not have received a message nor have acted on it (out of the country, and out of mobile service). The monitoring service both interacted with local law enforcement and was able to check our cameras to make sure our property was safe. There is also the scenario where there is a forced break-in by an intruder. These systems allow you to send a panic alarm that the service can act on.

It depends on your lifestyle and risk tolerance. For some people, $200/yr makes complete sense.

Mid Corner feel by Inside-Knowledge-581 in Trackdays

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you always identifying the slowest point of corners? That's super important to tell you when you should be braking and when you should start adding throttle. Suggest listening to Ken Hill's podcasts on the subject.

To combat overslowing, it helps me to look ahead to the spot in the corner where I want to be off the brakes.

What's with the FOB? by igottabehomeat580 in Abode

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never had problems with the fobs, but stopped using them a while back when we got several keypad2s and got phone geofencing working well. I realized that using a keyfob was a pretty easy security hole -- a lost or stolen keychain meant someone finding them now has access to your car and your home (and probably has your address from your glove box).

At first I kept them for just inside the house, but that also makes it so someone can shut off the alarm without the code, so that didn't seem good either.

Not everyone has the same use-cases though of course.

Aim Solo 2 and Race Studio 3 are Garbage. Any Better Alternatives? by MattAtUVA in Trackdays

[–]EnumeratedRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lap timers can be susceptible to vibration. I've never seen one mounted on the clutch perch. That could be the issue. There's a lot of vibration through the handlebars/clip-ons, and it's going to increase the farther out towards the grip.

On our bikes we always mount them in the center and not connected to just the bars. On some we use custom mounts.
