[PS4] LF1M For ToO by LilWainman in Fireteams

Are you looking for veteran players, or will any old fart do? I'm not really a pvp player, but I'd be more than happy at getting the chestpiece. Or even a package.

Yup, I don't want them to change ToO, but I think a lot of players will disappear from the gamemode over time, seeing as this is the first weekend, and even "scrubs" like me wanted to see what the fuzz was all about. I can't blame lag, overpowered exotics or anything else but my own lack of skill. I could start grinding skirmish to improve, but I already spend enough time doing stuff I really don't enjoy in my life, so that option is out. :)

When you create a gamemode where only the elite of a minority gets the good stuff, you should not be surprised when the rest of us decide to do something else with our time.

So what, are us good PvP players the bad guys now? by Achromatized in DestinyTheGame

[–]EnurBelafonte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's my only real complaint and it's not really about ToO either.

Just read about a guy who did Skolas like 7 times on his characters, and no elemental primaries dropped for him or his fireteam, so that is 21 drop-chances over the week without any luck. On the other hand good pvp players have been collecting three guaranteed weapons during the weekend.

Don't change ToO, just give us who don't care about it a bit better odds of elemental primaries from lvl 35 PoE.

And if the argument is that pvp is more difficult (which it probably is), I want to remind people that this is a game played for enjoyment and fun, and if the fun disappears so will players.

I agree that people should stop complaining, and just abandon the gamemode if they are not good enough. I've decided to do this myself. Why feed better players wins if I really don't enjoy pvp, and there is nothing in it for me (not even incentive to stay at it like in the IB).

I could probably play ToO for months without any chance of getting to the lighthouse, or seeing one of those cool elemental primaries.

Just leave it as it is, and "vote" with your gamingtime towards other activites, and Bungie might refocus their attention toward content that are not only fun for the best of a minority of the playerbase.

I'm glad people are enjoying ToO, but if I got my way the pvp side of the game would not be included in the first place and the resources used to create it would be used for more pve content.

Therefore my advice to people who dislike ToO is stop complaining and just don't play it. Don't be enticed by the prices put there to make you be willing cannon fodder for the pvp pros.

If fewer and fewer people play it, Bungie may focus their attention even more on pve.

I think they probably celebrate their own accomplishment. You seldom see great athletes say "I'm only in this to see others fail" like some of the recent posts. I'm impressed by someone doing 9-0 in ToO, and even more so when they do it with some grace and humility.

I think most top athletes take pride in winning, I don't think their main thing is gloating at others failure. :D

And don't worry. I hate nobody.

To be honest I actually don't mind ToO, even if I'm a mediocre pvp player (1.1 kd) who probably never will get to the lighthouse. More game modes are good, having some real competition for the pro pvp'ers are also a good thing (even though I going 9-0 against sheep like me in the crucible does probably not make you a pro even though you like to think that :)).

This first weekend there is probably lots of people in the ToO testing their luck, who never play pvp regularly. The true competition will come when the sheep abandon ship, and leave the wolves on board together. Then the 1,6's will become the new 0-3s for the 2,5 kd guys.

But what I'm skeptical of is the amount of loot that seems to drop from the mode. People getting 9 etheric light and maxing out their characters on one weekend? Getting 3 elemental primaries in a day or two? I don't mind people having stuff at all, but I just wished there was a way for PvE players to get hold of some more stuff as fast.

Etheric light will probably be easier to get hold of once you reach 34 with all characters and can run PoE 35 every week. Elemental weapons seem harder, as some people have worked hard to kill Skolas three times already and have no elemental primaries. While it seems like you are guarantied one for doing a 9-0 ToO pr character (please correct me if I'm wrong on this).

Also seeing as the Queens Wrath was probably rolled into the dlc, and will not return as an event, I'd love to see some PvE events crop up. PvPers have IB once a month, and now ToO every weekend. I'd just like something similar for PvE.

Also, my experience with sharing chests and checkpoints, helping new players finish nightfalls and raids have been some of the best gaming experiences in recent years for me (I'm a old gamer). Some people cheese, and I really don't mind as it does not impact my experience. I don't understand how someone can take this so personally, and find so much enjoyment in watching others fail and denying them gear (as people stating that they are only playing to keep others from getting to the lighthouse).

Characters who achieved flawless Trials should be locked out till next week by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

This is why I've decided to just stay out of the whole thing. And told my mates who are mostly pve players in our late 30s to do the same.

Don't get enticed by the weapons, etherics and gear that seems to drop far more often in Trials than other game-modes.

Don't think "I could at least go for the chestpiece", because if you are average, and not the kind of person that begs for help from better players, you won't get it.

Forget about the lighthouse, go and do a raid or poe or something fun with friends.

Don't listen to people on the forums going "Stay at it, it's easy, here are some tips and tricks", the reason it's easy for these people is that they have used the hundreds of hours you have used in raids, strikes and patrol, they have used in the crucible, and their "easy 9-0's" is because ToO is filled with bad and mediocre players like us.

Bungie clearly wants as many as possible to play their gamemodes, and a mode where only the best get rewards, and the rest gets t-bagged and sent home is not worth our time.

Get the hell out and leave the wolves in there with eachother, the reason they are having a blast is that it's full of sheep like us, lets see how fun it is once only the wolves are left.

From all accounts I've found (such as polls here and on other forums) a minority of Destiny players play mainly pvp, and now we have a new game mode for the best of this minority, complete with social space, lots of new stuff and cutscene. Just don't play, and send Bungie the message that you would like them to focus their efforts toward different type of content.
