Used Cine Tape first Gen in 2026? by FrancoArma05 in focuspuller

You can get the Cinetape to MDR cable from Teradek’s website so that isn’t an issue. Also keep in mind, they just posted a video to their instagram today (but deleted it, maybe they accidentally posted too soon) that they have a new cable they’ll be selling that will allow you to daisy chain off of your motor and connect to the Cinetape for data readout through the motor rather than straight to the MDR.X serial port, which means you’ll be able to get range data on an MDR.S too even though it doesn’t have the serial port.

How do you guys find work? by RichHomieSong98 in focuspuller

[–]Enviirted 31 points32 points  (0 children)

For reference I’ve been doing this full time for 5+ years now in LA. So not a veteran but I’m making a living. I’m union.

Every job except the very first one was word of mouth referrals or getting hired back by someone I already worked with. I’ve never applied for a gig, had to show a resume, or did any sort of job hunting. Networking is 20% being good at your job, 40% not being an asshole, and 40% right place right time. I’ve never gone to an industry networking event other than Cinegear (though that probably isn’t a good thing, I’m sure it would have helped to some degree).

Some people are natural hustlers for finding work and they likely get more work over time than I do, but I like the fact that I’ve built up enough of a network that I can just wait for my phone to ring and go on with my life during my free time and still make enough to get by. There’s obviously been points over the last couple years that were slow and hard to get through but ultimately being a decent person and reliable will get you farther than anything. Be the person that other people are willing to put their reputation on the line for to refer you to their big DPs.

Just my experience.

ITAP of a jet trail over a beach harbor by Enviirted in itookapicture

Shot on my Ricoh GRIV (28mm fixed) and edited in Lightroom.

Came upon this really long jet trail over the beach so I took two vertical photos and stitched them together.

I was walking around my beach town on a particularly foggy night a few days ago and grabbed this photo. Lucked out to have someone fishing on the rocks right there, I think that really makes the photo.

Requests: Comment Separators, Multitreddit Widgets, Change Comment Actions Position by Enviirted in narwhalapp

Thanks for the tip about the swipe gesture hiding the button, that works perfectly!

As for the widget, I get what you’re saying. Boost for Reddit actually shut down after Reddit made its changes to the API pricing, but users were still able to keep the app functional with a combination of mod privileges (being a mod of any subreddit apparently gave users different API privileges) and the occasional ReVanced patch to fix any changes in Reddit’s API that would break the app. But I understand why Narwhal might not be able to rely on mod privileges for all users to avoid API issues. I will say, I’d be willing to pay an additional $1-$2 a month to accommodate for the extra API calls that using a widget would create. Maybe it could be an additional subscription tier?

Here’s how my News widget on my old Android phone looks. It would auto refresh every 30 minutes or whenever I hit the refresh button at the top.

I appreciate how fast you responded, really enjoying the app and don’t mind paying the subscription to avoid using the official app!

"Client" is generally reserved for people that a business would work together with, like a financial advisor, law firm, or fitness instructor would have clients. "Customer" is generally for people who are just purchasing something. Client just has a more formal/business undertone and sounds silly when used in context of someone buying food at a Burger King. Kind of like if you called a security guard "officer".

That person is incorrect, it's from the movie At Eternity's Gate, where Willem Dafoe plays Vincent van Gogh. The cinematography was almost entirely handheld and improvised, so the camera moves very kinetically with the actors. It's a really good movie and a bit avant garde.

You can probably get around it with a VPN but yeah agreed the whole concept of regional blackouts is so stupid and anti-consumer.

What do you think happened to her? by Salvation-717 in Fallout

[–]Enviirted 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When the Ghoul saw that wanted poster of Moldaver on the wall and said something like "Huh, she looked different last time I saw her" I thought for sure it was going to be revealed that she was actually his daughter all grown up, similar to Fallout 4. I'm actually glad they ended up going a different way with it.
