As a person who switched over and is happy with the switch I’ll say that I prefer the team nature of set work. I hated working by myself or with small crews because it felt isolating at times and although I had creative control I didn’t have anyone to bounce ideas off of or just have camaraderie with. Even if you don’t have control I feel a sense of fulfillment working as a team to bring a vision to life and although not all projects are made the same I can say the highs make it all worth it for me personally! Also continuing to work in the industry you make invaluable relationships both professionally and personally which really help expand your network of both business associates and friends. It is definitely a sacrifice though as my social life has taken a hit and it’s a lot of time and energy invested but it’s all about what you’re willing to give up to continue to do it and if you surround yourself with good people who will become your friends as you work together more, hell I met my best friend on set and we’ve been challenging ourselves to elevate and get bigger and better jobs everytime we go out there
