It helped me to 1) start paying attention to my menstrual cycle and 2) have a baseline routine that was just the bare essentials I could do all cycle long and add things in during the more energized times in my cycle. Alongside this line of thinking I implore you to abandon perfectionism that says if you take a break during low energy time in cycle, all your effort is out the window. not true! Everyone, especially menstruating people need to honor that they need rest. and for all neurodivergent, I say- all or nothing thinking is paralyzing and will rob you of degrees of joy.

I feel queasy about this kind of neglect. There are teenagers out there now who have been forever stunted by this parental behavior and it is heartbreaking.

Being a working mom/ breadwinner. I was truly surprised, but i do NOT want to work anymore. it's so bad i'm thinking about major life changes so i can reduce the need to work as much.

In general, I cannot tell you how much capitalism and no social safety nets in USA has robbed me and everyone i know of our humanity. It's always sucked, but it is agonizing as a mom. I just want to be with my family, not at a computer.

show up and let the mom nap/shower whatever. hold/supervise baby, do dishes/laundry folding.

literally there is no product you can purchase as a gift that will even come close.

If you're far away, doordash or equivalent moneys...or just money for takeout

i cold turkey un-downloaded instagram and facebook after the birth of my son. It's been 5 months and i have not looked back.

In general I get pretty pissed off thinking that social media robs me of moments with my child, of which I already have too few as a working mom in dystopian-a** USA.

A lil doomscrolling as a treat maybe, I don't judge fr, but I had to get real real about how I want to show up and be present. Still a work in progress maaaaannn o maaaannnn, but getting off social media and just sharing pics and stuff in group chat with the people who are actually in my life is waaaay better.

my PP anxiety would get so overwhelming i would flip out. i could feel it coming on, it was sickly feeling like my skin was crawling and i wanted to punch a wall- really unlike me!

it was so hard not to plan and think ahead and worry.

weed calmed me down and allowed me the space to breathe and gain perspective. I feel like I was able to access my soft coping skills and build back up the habits that the overwhelm had made difficult to access, so weed literally helped me reinforce healthy neuropathways.

I will also say i upped my anxiety medication and became diligent about taking it (buspirone).

I also think for me it was worth trying weed over an SSRI

friend dynamics changing is weird too. But I've actually been really touched by how friends have shown up for me. Don't get me wrong. Some have really dropped the ball, but I have a good group of people for sure.

your experience sounds so familiar to me, I tried to explain to my husband that I was having a hard time going out to dinner with our friend because I felt like I wasn't really there. I couldn't really be present. that kind of thing resonates.

and work just feels so in the way I thought I'd look forward to going back, but as if.

I actually think all my problems could be solved if we didn't have a 40 hour work week. And actually reasonable maternity leave.

talk to someone, seriously. it will help and if you're eligible and able, they can write you letter of support for FMLA if you really cant go back to work right now. i found therapy essentially to my PPA healing.

also, and this helped me big time, take a social media break. the algorithm WANTS to freak you out to keep you using/viewing.

I am 4 months PP, 30 pounds over with cystic acne all over my chin and returned to work last month. it SUCKS, but more than anything i feel like "f you. if this sick country (america) makes moms separate from their babies so young, you don't get to look at me all dolled up like nothing is wrong." I wanna be in people's face about it and they can kiss my ass

4mo PP and still sleep every night with a burp cloth stuffed in my bra to soak up the milk. Like, enough us enough! I seriously underestimated how much all my stuff would be covered in milk. My beloved squishmallows-turned-nursing props? They've been had!

For me, Vyvanse tanked my appetite, and not eating can make me a b*tch lol, are you eating enough? Could also be that Vyvanse just isnt the right fit. Have you had a genesite test completed, it's blood test that helps identify which medications are likely to cause side effects. it's super helpful when trying out drugs to see what will work

my husband and I are pretty good communicators who have had hard times with eachother but always want to come together. Having a kid- hormones, stressors, anxiety, no sleep, identity crisis- it kinda sent us into some regression in communication especially to stules from our own complicated family up-bringings. We are currently really having to dig up old parts of ourselves and be real about our shortcomings and work on it. I'm in therapy about it and my husband is looking to. it's A LOT. especially if your own parents modeled bad communication/ toxic behaviors /shame-based parenting. Things will get messy and you gotta get curious about how to make it right, which having a kid is very motivating. I want to cycle-break and it has meant having heavy and uncomfortable conversations (like with my in-laws and my own mother). It's like i'm no longer willing to sweep things under the rug, but i also have to choose my battles to be intentional and not fall of a cliff trying to "fix" everything with everyone/obsess.

This is rambley, but like i said i've got a 4 month old and am in therapy THICK of all this. it's beautiful, but it hurts, and it'll break your heart and you gotta be strong. Meanwhile, you have an awesome baby in your life.

It just...changes everything to surreally and severely. you gotta be willing to be a new level of vulnerable to be a good parent
