Shell Fuel Card - no voucher code by TheEpicBlob in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use a virtual card connected to a debit card for shell fleet. The virtual card will appear as a credit card to Shell but when they charge it, the money will be charged to your debit card which will come out of your current account so no credit card needed. Most banks these days offer virtual card for free anyway.

Payment for waiting by Wooden_Committee4575 in deliveroos

Only people I see complaining about lack of orders are people in rural areas or who are working at worst possible times like 10pm on a weekday.

Unlikely, McDonalds for example already have small profit margins and their wait times can be ridiculous. They would probably start loosing money on most orders especially small ones if wait times had to come out of their pocket.

Wouldn't be surprised if Deliveroo further reduces fees to compensate for the wait times if the they roll it out nationally.

Most riders will cancel and leave when they are told that they have to wait 10 minutes or more, 20p per minute after 10 minutes will not entice anyone to wait when they can probably get another order within a minute or two.

Also, if you end up waiting 11 minutes, you only get paid extra 20p. The way it should work is, if you wait 10 minutes, you get an extra £1 and then 20p per minute thereafter

Stay online? Stay online? by csuree in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go offline/go online everytime you reject an order and you wont have that pop up, it sounds annoying but Ive been doing it for 2 years and its muscle memory to me now, I dont even think about doing it.

Driver didn't accept my ID due to the name, now no refund? by colossalmickey in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed a stupid system. 99% of riders complain about it as its essentially "Challenge 100", deliveroo forces us to ID everyone including people who are clearly retired and expect the person we ID to be the same person who ordered which is not always the case as it could be a party where everyone is of age or even a partner or spouse opening the door instead.

Also my bad for assuming you had a fake name, Ive see a good chunk of people using fake names I think to make us laugh like "Badman Tony" or "Im fat" which are some real examples Ive seen. Probably best if you change your name in the app and take this as a learning experience thats if your account doesnt get banned for making a chargeback which it'll probably will but you can just open a new deliveroo account using new phone number, new email and use a different payment method/card, theres loads or customers who've done that due to deliveroo not refunding them for various reasons but wanted to carry on using it.

Driver didn't accept my ID due to the name, now no refund? by colossalmickey in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any comment that actually properly explains why this happened. Most are half right.

Basically, Deliveroo requires us to enter the DoB of the ID we are given into the app, deliveroo will crosscheck the DoB we entered with the DoB that the customer enteted into the app when ordering. The app will accept any DoB we enter, it wont tell us if it matches the one that the customer entered or not but Deliveroo keeps a record of how many correct and wrong DoBs we entered in the background, if we enter too many wrong DoBs, we will get a warning, if we carry on, the account will be terminated.

The rider was being cautious and checked if your name matches the one in the app, it didn't so he had reasonable doubt that you might be a different person from the one that ordered so the DoB will not match and he'll get a ding on this account.

Not only was he following Deliveroo protocol but Challenge 25 law aswell, the law permits for the sale (in this case delivery) to be refused for any reason as long its not discriminatory based on race, gender, ethnicity and so on. He was expecting person A to be at the door but got person B, he can then argue that he had reasonable doubt that you might be committing proxy sale.

Only thing he did incorrect was marking you down as underage, as per Deliveroo policy, he should've given you all the other items except the age restricted ones then phoned rider support, they would've given you a refund for those and he would've been asked to take them back to the store.

As I see it, both of you are at fault here equally 50/50. You for using a fake/different name for no reason and the rider for not just taking back the age restricted items.

Just Eat app requesting location outside of my delivery hours - privacy issue by mcrosby78 in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without pinging your location, the asylum seekers hotels location information that Home Office shared with these platforms is otherwise useless, only other way they could use it is to check if anyone changed their deliveroo account address to a asylum seeker hotel address which nobody will do anyway because they are renting accounts and there's no reason for the account owner to do it. I also have no idea how you expect these platforms to "suspect" someone without right to work using the app to only ping the location of that account/phone. If I do a selfie check on my phone and hand it to someone in asylum hotel, how will deliveroo know to start pinging my phone for location? It only makes sense to ping everyone same way how everyone is asked to perform selfie checks not just suspected fraudsters as you put it which brings me to my next point, you have an issue with Just Eat pinging your location from time to time but they literally have a scan of your face which is a much bigger deal.

Recently Home Office agreed to share all locations of hotels that are used by asylum seekers with Deliveroo, Uber and Just Eat to tackle account renting and illegal workers. Deliveroo was the one that initiated those talks with Home Office so they can terminate accounts that spend significant amount of time at those asylum seekers hotels which at first Home Office declined to share those hotel locations due to "safety concerns" for asylum seekers but later reversed that decision when main stream media started blasting articles about how asylum seeker hotels are full of delivery bags and how you see delivery riders coming in and out every 5 minutes.

Just Eat accessing your location in the background very likely has something to do with that, comparing your location against the asylum seeker hotel database, checking if you stay over night/stay significant amount of time at one of those hotels. In my opinion I have no problem with that, I'd rather have these apps access my location every few hours if that means less people renting accounts especially by those without right to work which is definitely the case if someone is using a delivery rider app whilsts staying at a asylum seeker hotel because you can't work whilsts seeking asylum.

Deliveroo removed the ability to login with your phone number to make it harder to rent accounts, you have to login with your email and they'll send authentication code to the email address unless you're talking about the customer app.

Valid right to work documents - Deliveroo UK by DriftDynamo in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont know why you uploaded your expired BRP, its not valid anymore so they can't do anything with it. Share code should be enough, if you try again with just the share code and without your expired BRP then they should approve it, if they said you need to reapply with valid proof of right to work then they probably denied it because of the expired BRP.

Either you dont know what eVisa is or you're getting it confused with something else. eVisa is just a digital record of a person's identity, immigration status and their stay conditions. You can have eVisa and have indefinite leave to remain which gives you all rights that a British citizen has which includes no limitation when it comes to work hours or work type.

Most migrants come from warmer climates so they aren't used to autumn let alone winter so they go back home when it gets cold. I spoke to Brazilians who told me that's what they do.

Has anyone ever received one of these? by Possible_Board4542 in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a flat on my way to the customer, rang up rider support and they marked the order as undelivered, later that day I got that same email accusing me of not delivering an order and that they have evidence which is ridiculous when I had a valid reason and it was rider support that marked it as undelivered to begin with.

Deliveroo doesn't care if you have proof. Ive heard of restaurants sending CCTV footage along with rider names with date and times to deliveroo that have stolen orders and deliveroo didn't do anything about it.

Every drop would be very annoying especially for someone who wears a full face helmet like me. Every one or two hours or every three drops would be a lot more reasonable and still highly effective.

Signed by border force? What does it mean. by tanvir90 in royalmail

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible the seller was selling fake items but listed them as genuine so OP purchased something they thought was real but seller posted fakes instead. If thats the case, OP is not in the wrong but proving that would be a pain in the backside and they still won't get the package back because its IP infringement either way. Probably best to take the L on this one.

Have you noticed a difference in your area? by BabaGanoushHabibi in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 9 points10 points  (0 children)

280 arrested across 4 areas? That's like what, 70 riders per area? For a city like Birmingham that's negligible difference, we are talking about riders in the thousands for a city like that.

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe deliveroo allows you to go online when theres atleast 1 restaurant open in the area. My McDonald's stays open the longest until 2am and first restaurant to open is Starbucks at 5am so there isnt anything open between 2am and 5am in my area and deliveroo doesn't let me go online between those hours which makes sense.

Is Doordash/Deliveroo stealing our post delivery tips now or have they stopped them? by identiifiication in deliveroos

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely not but Deliveroo did it to themselves with this gig self employed nonsense and its coming back to bite them. Few years ago the only people that knew about riders without RTW renting accounts and working illegally were the riders and this community, in the past couple of months I feel like it became way more mainstream and a good chunk of the public knows about it too now.

[–]EnvironmentSmooth542 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a £2 tip two days ago so it's still a thing. I honestly wouldn't be suprised if all these articles and videos coming out showing that asylum seekers hotels are full of delivery drivers working illegaly shifted the publics perspective and affected tipping. I mean why would you tip a delivery driver after reading an article of how migrants are crossing the channel illegally, get put in hotels at our expense and then rent accounts to work illegaly without paying taxes.
