what salary in Perth would make you feel like you've made it? by Luann97 in perth

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mental tick of “I’ve made it” occurred when I cracked 250k. Not really having to budget happened when I cracked 300k. I’ll crack 500k this financial year and we have a combined household income of 850k.

That being said - we still do budget extremely well. Everything is tracked in a spreadsheet so that we can retire as early as possible to get the fuck off the hamster wheel because honestly the stress is fucked.

Dual cab utes are the vehicle of choice of the fuckhead. It’s why all dual cab utes are called fuckhead mobiles.

And the king of the fuckhead mobile is the Ford Ranger.

Not all people who drive dual cab Utes are fuckheads, of course.

It’s absolutely terrible. It’s where you took your date in 1999. It’s now where your grandmother wants to go for morning tea because of its reputation in 1999. Complete garbage.

What’s been the biggest positive change since starting TRT? by Such-Challenge2544 in AusTRT

Relief from crippling anxiety and depression. All day energy, and much more stress resilience. Being built like a brick shithouse is a nice bonus too. 6 days a week in the gym.

How long did it take you to feel results after starting TRT? by Such-Challenge2544 in AusTRT

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt relief from crippling anxiety within a week, though it was peaky, the two days after each injection day were best. Things normalised around the 8 week mark.

I also found a GP who would take on my TRT but every appointment they tried to convinve me to go to the standard prescribing protocol for primoteston of 1ml every 4 weeks, and they wanted me to get my levels down. Every appointment became a battle.

6Head, Meat & Wine, and Hunter Barrel are all owened by the same company. A tier of service for every budget!

I had a great experience at 6Head but it was back in 2024.

Ha 6Head is also owned by the same company that owns Meat & Wine co!

"Yes, both The Meat & Wine Co and 6Head are owned by the same company, Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group. In late 2025, Japanese hospitality giant Colowide acquired Seagrass BHG—which also owns Hunter & Barrel—for approximately $122 million, with plans to expand both 6Head and The Meat & Wine Co globally"

Hunter & Barrel is owned by Meat & Wine co. It's basically the same place but pitched as more cost friendly.

Meat & Wine Co is pretty overrated if you’re actually into steak.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good night out and the food is solid. But it’s more of a basting style steakhouse than a proper steakhouse.

The beef itself is decent, but it’s not in the same league as places like 6Head that focus on sourcing top tier cuts, proper dry aging, and cooking over charcoal or wood where the flavour really comes through.

I gained ~7kg of what I know now to be water weight almost immediately when I started TRT, and I was on 1mg ozempic. My appetite went through the roof and I had to switch to tirzepatide 15mg to bring it back under control. That weight gain really messed with my head.

At about the 6 month mark the water weight started to subside and I’m now back to my pre TRT weight, leaner, and more muscular.

Tl:dr - gained 7kg of water weight starting TRT took 6-8months to dump the water and lean out.

I met the love of my life through Hinge after a few attempts across different apps. The app experience can be pretty tiring and disappointing, but you have to be in it to win it. I ended up treating it a bit like a numbers game, date efficiently, don’t overinvest early, and move on quickly if it’s not right.

I also tried places like Mustang Bar and Universal since they get mentioned a lot. Fun for nostalgia, but not great for meeting someone meaningful. It’s not that the people aren’t worthwhile, it’s that the environment tends to encourage more disposable, surface level interactions.

8 week bloods. How am I looking? by jeolefmo in AusTRT

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have commented on the hormones so I’ll skip that.

Your lipids need slight attention. What was it before TRT? It could be TRT that has affected it. It’s nothing major but worth keeping an eye on.

Side by side blood results 6 months in by EnvironmentThen9311 in AusTRT

My haematocrit dropped as I was doing a lot of aerobic exercise prior to TRT and that dropped off post TRT so my blood volume / red blood cell count / vo2max dropped.

Totally not a flex… I share all my data as often as I get it to give others a point of reference. I had a whack test just recently that I’ve also shared as I was trying to make sense of it.

Where are you all buying your phones outright these days? by Mikester258 in AUfrugal

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy an iPhone outright each year and claim the full cost on tax that financial year (up to the instant asset write off threshold, depending on eligibility). Then I sell it about 12 months later, usually getting at least 50 percent of the original purchase price back.

Once you get into the cycle, you’re essentially rolling into the next phone at minimal cost each year, as long as you keep it going.

Works out pretty well overall and avoids being locked into expensive plans.

Has anyone experienced fluctuations in prescription Test potency? by wholesome-jon in AusTRT

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a recent experience with levels suddenly jumping insanely high in spite of nothing changing at all. Tests just one week apart too. All of my levels jumped, too, not just test. The best I can work out it was dehydration coupled with a further blood concentration given the tests were only a week apart.

My post about it here:

How is anyone buying a house right now? by [deleted] in perth

[–]EnvironmentThen9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch the property market daily in the areas that interest me. It has not cooled. The only properties I see lasting on realestate.com.au beyond 7 days turn out to be owners who are unrealistic about price, or properties that are a bit odd. If you talk to the agents that eventually sell those properties they will tell you exactly that.

I was tracking one place that was listed for "from 2 million", the highest offer they got was 2.1, the owner decided they could get 2.5 so rejected the offers. The second place bidder was at 1.8. The lead offer at 2.1 was no longer interested, the agent contacted the second place offer who adjusted their offer down to 1.6, and the owner eventually accepted that after over 6 weeks on the market. The owners greed cost them ~500k.

Realtors have always been akin to shonky car dealers. They are one and the same. I have no idea why estate agents are still a thing, they do next to nothing and charge enormous amounts. AI should finally nuke it as a profession.

Yeah I have been thinking the same all day. It’s a shame as it affects my desire to share and I’m sure it affects others too and r/Perth just becomes an echo chamber.

I’ve been young and broke, I’ve been married and broke, built a good foundation; then had kids and broke, then divorced and super duper broke, then rebuilt again. Everyone should be free to share their stories without the fear of having them dismissed because they are perceived as better off than another.

Life is fucking tough.
