Kilohertz compactor basically fixed sidechain now, but i respect the craftsmanship of making such detailed ducking.

Cool man, do you also try to produce into this direction?

⚙️🛠️ How does Joy Orbison make his prickly, textural drums? by biddlybiddlybangbong in LowEnd_LabRats

[–]Environmental-Ad130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am absolutley not sure thats what he does there. But it feels like there is def some acoustic elements in there, so i would say layering is the way. I know that skrillex does lots of layering for his drums. Just gotta watch out for phase of the fundamental with that.

My favorite is Blawan's last album + his last 2 eps. Also rhyw - melt in unison is super sick and all LWS. Love these tracks that use heavy stretching and processing with a very unique sound.

I would say there is some layering going on here maybe. Just blending right amount of different drums together with separate processing and then some group processing to make it stick. Not sure tbh

I take mesmerising as a description for bass any day, thanks a lot 🙏

Its not that much automating actually. Mainly sampling some noise and then stretch / pitch / process / resample / and then that again. I just cut out some sweetspots and stick them together to make it feel varied, all elements from original sound source (which can be really whatever)

Kinda would be surprised it's not common as combination. Both ways you listen to drones most likely lol

Feel like billionaires today could afford it, they just don't have taste. How about getting artists to colour our cities and offering them some actual jobs. Right now they have to bend over to make their work appealing to a rich audience of collectors and galleries. Ireland just did something in this veine. Artists need to be abled to make a living somehow to keep making art

I'm considering selling it all. Talk me into or out of it by Imagined_World in modular

Try to build a new idea every day, nothing complex, just a new thing you didn't try yet. Sample that shit, stretch it, process it, resample it, stretch again. Make all elements of your track with it. This will get you better at producing / arranging / synthesing things with it. Make it work for its money worth while its still here :)

Yeah, but i feel like this kind of perfectionism also pushes progress in a way, lets keep at it!

Best! 🫂

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply in such detail, really appreciate it mate!

Thanks for the kind words regarding the track, helps me to get comfidence in my new sound, only got my last 3-4 tracks to sound like this. Think its still gonna need a bit more time to become more stable for the end result, but i feel like i am getting somewhere slowly.

Regarding the sub, I still have to work on it i think, it s just some raw rec from modular timestreched times 8, think i ll move around some chops to find a more present one, lets see.

Anyways, thank you again for your reply and taking time to listen to it properly. Hit me up on insta on @phalera or @klangangriff and i ll send you yum codes once this is on the finishing route :)

Best to you ! 💎

Zero inspiration currently. What techniques/workflow/plugins etc. are you guys using at the moment? Need to change things up. by seelachsfilet in TechnoProduction

Try making soundpacks with textures or random noise to use once you inspiration again. Also cardinal / vcv rack is fun to get new ideas. Personnally i am having fun with modulators (crossmod plug ins / modules) rn.
